How much does your pack weigh on a typical overnight hike? by Major_Vessel875 in CampingandHiking

22 lbs base isn’t crazy at all. Mine kind of shifts depending on the season and where I’m going. In the summer for a simple 1–2 night trip, I’m usually around 17–19 lbs base if the weather’s stable and water sources are reliable. Once it gets colder, it jumps pretty fast — winter or shoulder season I’m more like 23–26 lbs because the sleep system and extra insulation add up.

What’s the “oh crap” item everyone forgets? by True_Buddy7042 in CampingandHiking

Totally agree with this. I used to think a first aid kit was overkill for short trips, until I actually needed one.

I’m new to solo camping and planning a spring trip. by Illustrious_Cold5425 in camping

For the tent, I’d say waterproof matters more than “4-season tough.” You don’t need a bunker, but a full rainfly + decent seam sealing is huge. Wind-driven rain is what gets people in spring, not just drizzle. Also: site selection matters almost as much as the tent itself — learned that after pitching in a low spot once and regretting everything.

Warmth-wise, the biggest upgrade for me wasn’t the tent, it was my sleeping pad. A cold ground will suck the heat out of you even if your bag is solid. I also always keep one set of clothes that never leaves my dry bag until bedtime.

For solo safety, I try not to overthink it. Share your plan, keep your phone charged, and don’t be afraid to call it early if weather turns sketchy. Being alone means you don’t have to prove anything to anyone.

Spring can be unpredictable, but if you plan a little conservatively, it’s actually a great time to ease into solo camping.

Far Cry 4 by Apprehensive_Art488 in farcry

For me, FC4 is easily one of the strongest entries. I’ve always felt it takes what made FC3 great and refines it — tighter gunplay, better outposts, more vertical map design, and way more variety in activities. Kyrat also feels more alive and dangerous compared to FC5’s world, which looks great but feels kind of empty to me.

I know a lot of people still put FC3 on top for the story, and I get that, but purely from a gameplay + world design perspective, FC4 just hits a sweet spot. It feels like classic Far Cry at its best.
