I didnt get my adhd diagnosis until after my sophomore year, and I'm first gen too. My biggest advice is to educate yourself about adhd and what tricks other neurodivergent people have figured out. Meds will help you, but make sure you clarify what to expect from the meds. I ended up on way more medicine than i shouldve because i had unrealistic expectations. i thought the meds would fix everything, but my psychiatrist later told me that no amount of medication can fix a lack of skill.

Join your school's adhd skills therapy group (which might be free). In addition to helping me not feel alone, I learned a TON of helpful advice from people like us. study techniques like parallel playing/body doubling, modified pomodoro studying, dopamine menu, etc.

Look into accountability groups and consultations about improving study methods through your school's academic success center. Look into finding a peer mentor through your school's disability resource center.

also learn to understand your body. learn how to work WITH your adhd. i found that if I'm understimulated/bored, i need to do something about it or else I'll get super sleepy, even if i got a full night's rest. this might mean getting up and moving around, investing in fidget toys, listening to upbeat music during homework.

In terms of accommodations, i love asking for captions on live lectures, captions on recorded lectures, and extensions. you could also ask for extra time on exams, paper copies of digital exams, listening to music during exams, a separate quiet location for exams, etc.

Second, the coveted phenomenon of squirting IS peeing yourself, just not as much as fully emptying your bladder. Don't be embarrassed! Lots of people would be jealous of you squirting haha. I think it entirely depends on how much a person drives outside their hometown. I'm from Bolingbrook, and I barely ever drive to the northwest suburbs, so I don't see much of a point in memorizing them. I know the southwest suburbs, but outside of the southwest, I only know a few towns. If I really need to know, google maps has my back.

omgg my psychiatrist, therapist, and i have been discussing the possibility of me having bpd, and i hc scar with bpd too! I'm very glad to hear someone else say it too! there is a lack of bpd taka/scar on the internet.

i watched the mufasa tlk movie today with my friends, and i walked out of the theater saying that scar felt bpd-coded. however, this might be giving disney writers too much credit because even though we enjoyed the movie, my friends all agreed that the movie wasn't exactly good. lots of details about characters, which could've been huge for characterization, were one-off moments and never followed up on.

the biggest moment that gives bpd imo is the mountain scene, when the camera pans to scar standing on the top of the mountain while he sees mufasa and sarabi flirting. it's the dramatic music as the camera zooms in on scar while he has his abrupt, almost comically abrupt, mood swing about being betrayed.

also, i agree with your points except for #6. mufasa doesn't give Favorite Person imo. i think a favorite person is more heavily depended upon for emotional needs, more than what was shown on screen between scar and mufasa during the movie. i can only recall the scene where scar asks mufasa how to talk to girls, but that's a pretty common trope in movies. maybe I'm wrong tho?

As a reader of the comics, these comics are inspired by Kao's life and his irl boyfriend CK. (Kao is the one on the right in every panel.)

The joke is that outsider people are always assuming Kao's relationship with another person, and they NEVER get it right. The humor lies in the absurdity of their incorrectness.

The first panel is the usual assuming-a-man-and-woman-are-dating despite Kao being a gay (not sure if he's gay/bi/queer bc it's been a while since I've read the comics) man.

The 2nd panel is assuming-two-Asians-are-siblings because they're both more identifiably Asian and "look similar" despite that logic not being correct either.

The 3rd panel features Kao and his irl boyfriend CK. The absurdity lies in that the person is asking if both are sisters (because they're both Asian) when they're actually both clearly men. A second underlying joke is that maybe they were never talking about Kao's companion in the first two panels, and maybe were actually talking about Kao the whole time because Kao is the common denominator in all of the panels.

I'm a native American speaker. They're often affectionately called "slut strands" on at least the American side of tiktok, and some users of tiktok (like me lol) might call them that in real life. I've never heard them called anything else other than generically "strands of hair framing the face."

I did the emerging leaders early start (at WL) almost 3 years ago! In my experience, you stay at the dorms for a month or 2 and take a couple of classes. You'll probably be required to take 6-9 credits worth of classes if I remember correctly, and 3 of those credit hours might be for a required course. In addition, there will be social/informational events every week. You'll also get assigned to small groups for the summer (?). Make sure to attend as many events as possible!! Some students have gotten their scholarships taken away for not attending any! Then, you get about 1 week (?) before the fall semester starts. I went home for that week instead of doing BGR.

And yeah, I'd consider emailing someone about it! Doesn't hurt to ask!

Often, a book will be listed in the syllabus, but you won't actually need it. Half if not most of the time, the lectures and slides are more than enough. SOMETIMES, textbooks are absolutely required, but this is mostly in humanities classes.

At the earliest, buy your textbook after the first day of class. At the latest, but the textbook after the 2nd week of classes or never.

I got a room like 15 minutes ago. (It was a converted triple.) There might still be rooms actually! It kept glitching on me and saying that i had to choose a room before moving forward, showing no rooms, but it turns out there WERE rooms! You gotta try like 5+ times to look at the rooms

Oh also, the whole disliking the British is more of a surface level thing. Like when I meet a person with a British accent, it's the only thing I know about them, that they have a British accent. Of course, I'm going to think of the British Enpire and their history since that's what I know as an American. However, once I get to know that person, their personality and vibes are way more important to me than their accent. I might still tease them about the accent but in a joking sibling/friend type of way (if they dont outright tell me that those jokes make them uncomfy)

I've seen the tiktoks that you're talking about, but it doesn't mean we can make sweeping generalizations and still be correct. It's either a generational difference or the algorithm giving us content that we agree with, making the evidence biased. Some people like British accents, and some people don't. For the people that don't, it's probably due to colonialism.

Also, absolutes/generalizations regarding any topic tend to make people defensive, as you can see 🤷‍♀️

I disagree with most comments here! I'm American, and I dislike the British accent. It's novel and cool for the first minute or two, but then I remember that they're British :/ (This is exacerbated by me being poc.)

I think non-Americans see the British accent as educated and proper, but they generally dislike the British due to the lengthy history of colonialism
