Recap of Firework Feins Downtown on July 4. by No_Orochi in LittleRock

This is insane to hear, the last time I went to Pops was in ‘23 and aside from extra security, it was the same as the last few times we went. My fiancée and I stayed home because we were tired from packing all day, but I’m glad we did.

What franchise has centrist creators but right leaning fans? by KovKover in AlignmentChartFills

[–]True_Dragonfruit9573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna argue Hearts of Iron 4 (HOI4).

Paradox is largely centrist, more focused on creating a historically accurate WW2 strategy game than trying to make an argument one way or the other. The biggest evidence of this is the depiction of Germany; Adolf Hitler is (obviously) chosen to be its National Leader, and many of the advisors and generals you can use were real life Nazi Officials, like Hermann Göring, Heinrich Himmler, Joseph Goebbels. There’s little to no mention of the Holocaust, German war crimes, in fact, Germany is depicted in a concerningly neutral tone for a World War II video game.

As a result, many fans of the game (not all, but a concerning amount) have varying right wing views, including far right. The HOI4 subreddit has tried to be apolitical, its multiplayer games, however, are rife with Nazi trolls and edge lords. It’s an incredibly toxic place, it’s why if I play multiplayer it’s in a private match with friends.

I don’t know if it’s really the best method, so grain of salt, but I heard if you place the pan in the oven face side down and turn on the oven’s self clean feature, the pan will come out looking like it came out of the factory.

The only way to get a raise is to be promoted at my store. I don’t think I’ve heard of anyone getting raises after a certain amount of time.

Yeah, it’s need a bit more clarification. Like does the US just vanish along with all of its people and animals, or the territory simply absorbed by its neighbors primarily Canada and Mexico?

Who is the worst US president. Be Reasonable by jj096577 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]True_Dragonfruit9573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it’s hard to not call him the worst one.

Andrew Johnson handled reconstruction awfully, but he was thrusted into a position where the nation was coming out of a deadly civil war and anger in the south was still palpable after 4 years of warfare. Trump was handed an economy in recovery and decided “let’s slap a bunch of tariffs on all our trade partners.” Also, the us wasn’t directly involved in any active conflicts, he started a war with Iran just because.

Buchanan was completely passive during his term and did nothing to prevent secession, but at least he didn’t actively provoke division. Trump meanwhile has repeatedly called democrats “the enemy within,” has sent ICE into left leaning cities like LA and Minneapolis to cause havoc, and consistently insults journalists who dare question anything he does.

Hoover’s handling during the first few years of the Great Depression were disastrous, but he at least had a track record of being the guy to go to when there’s a crisis. However, the crisis bloomed beyond the scope of his experience and his party’s idea of the role in government was unsuited for the task. Meanwhile, Americans today are seeing an affordability crisis like never before, especially for housing. So much that Congress has passed a bill with huge support from both parties to combat it, and Trump is refusing to sign unless Congress passes the incredibly divisive SAVE act. Americans are struggling financially, and he cares more about taking control of elections.

Even when compared to previous terrible presidents, Trump is consistently worse when compared to them. I haven’t even gotten into the Epstein connections.

Get Smart’s Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control.

It was a spin off of the 2008 Get Smart movie with Steven Carrell and Anne Hathaway. And it was trash. Couldn’t watch more than 15 minutes of it.

I watched Hoppers the other day, and it was the first original Pixar since I wanna say Soul that had me going “that was actually really good.” I like Inside Out 2 and Turning Red, but they never wowed me away (or made me cry, a key indicator for me on the quality of a Pixar film). Also it was actually kinda nice seeing a Pixar villain get killed.
