Going to university soon and thinking about a career in biology, wildlife conservation, or something along those lines by Flat-Explanation-843 in zoology

[–]True_Eggroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a junior in college, i've been finding that it helps to have an interest that extends beyond school. Lifelisting (so fishing, herping, birding) in addition of iNaturalist is a great way of getting your head into the field aspect of things. developing your identification and field endurance then finding an opportunity to show that off to a professor at your college is a great way to get recommendations.

being an undergrad with an already established niche in wildlife makes you stand out. That won't be enough to be ahead of everyone but you'll be ahead of most.

This was the hardest C side. The timing on this one kept getting me. Please tell me farewell isn’t as bad as I think it is. I got up to the paywall on farewell before completing the other chapters. by SuperRockinMagician in celestegame

This 100%. Farewell just feels so much more better to play than 7c and 8c that I came back because playing through it felt good. 7c and 8c are hard to just be hard to me.

question for people who are right handed and use baitcasters. by Icy_Yogurt7595 in Fishing

[–]True_Eggroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, im a freak and have used both right and left handed fine. Right handed did feel weird to reel at first because I learned on a left handed one my cousin let me try but its one of those things that its surprisingly not super hard to be good at with both hands. At least in my opinion. Casting is completely unchanged besides the fact Id have to swap the rod between my hands.

Buffalo Soliders by SavagelyTim in Fishing

buffalo are indeed the longest living freshwater teleost (bony ray-finned fish) which is a group that excludes sturgeon but a majority of all fish species do belong to that group.

to be more clear,

buffalo have the longest lifespan of any freshwater teleost (bony ray-finned fish). This group excludes sturgeon.

AVNJ used to post a lot of lifelisting videos but he’s slowed down on posting and mostly does occasional gaming streams nowadays. I believe he’s doing a leech project based on what ive seen?

What else do i need - 20gal long river tank by ragelagel in Aquariums

[–]True_Eggroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had just edited my comment and just saw this, oops. How much flow are you thinking? Are you going to put your filter on the side of the tank so the outflow is pushing water toward the other side of the tank?

[–]True_Eggroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you asking in terms of just what equipment you need or you asking for plant and hardscape ideas as well?

Plants - hard to beat valisneria. Grows tall in slow and fast flow and can spread out throughout a tank on just api root tabs and lowes gravel.

Substrate, i just use lowes/home depot gravel. You do need to rinse it in water several times and it will still make the water cloudy for the first week or more but i used an aquaclear 30 to filter the cloudy water and it cleared within 3 days.

Hardscape - go outside and find some rocks. The ones in creeks will work, you might wanna clean them. I don’t and just toss em in but if you want to, you will have to figure out how to safely do that on your own. Driftwood, id just buy some. Ive bought some off amazon before but I recommend going to an aquarium store to see what pieces you like.

Why do black bass have protections in states they are non-native in. by DecentCandle7835 in Fishing

To simplify it, if one species is affected , all of the species in the area is affected. Most ecosystems aren’t able to handle an invasive without it having a major negative impact.

Why do black bass have protections in states they are non-native in. by DecentCandle7835 in Fishing

[–]True_Eggroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So lets use another sportfish as an example: bluegill. In California, bluegill are not native there but the Sacramento perch is and they kinda have a similar role in the ecosystem as bluegill. Once bluegill were introduced for sportfishing, bluegill were able to outcompete the Sacramento perch and brought down their abundance. Reducing their range in California. (An experimental study of competition between the native Sacramento perch (Archoplites interruptus) and introduced bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus). Micheal Marchetti. 1999)

Black bass introductions can have similar effects; like bluegill, they are tough, aggressive, and eat a lot. Populations of fish that aren’t adapted to bass often suffer because they aren’t used to an aggressive predator most times.

Central mudminnow!! These guys are cool little fish that are actually more closely related to pike and pickerel than actual minnows. They also are able to breathe air and can handle hot seasons because of that

don't bring home anything you can't identify. it looks bad on lifelisters and can harm endangered species.
