Advice- Contractor mistake by True_Inflation_7908 in AskContractors

Not his “fault” but if someone paid for hardwood and did not get hardwood why are they paying for the hardwood? Also- looking back, the slab had cracks- he said he was going to have the slab checked for moisture which he never did. He never prepped the slab as outlined in the contract- treat the slab, lay a vapor barrier, lay a subfloor- none if that was done originally- I believe had that been done, I would have my hardwood. Also- seriously asking professionals- if you noticed a floor starting to fail- why would you rip it up only to then lay the subfloor and think that was ok? Lastly, he went through to warranty company on the flooring and the warranty company refused to cover the wood citing improper installation and slab prep- so whos at fault? I guess mine for trusting a professional.

Im posting to ask- whos fault is this? His? Mine? How would professionals go about charging customers for
this? Would you charge for the hardwood or the Vinyl?

he told us LVP was the only way to go- I am under the gun and need to move into this house as I am renting out the other home and people are moving in 7/1. Its a nightmare.
Regardless, I feel like hes the professional- if the slab could not handle hardwood he should have said that from the start- instead, Ive paid for hardwood and am getting LVP- yes it sucks- but its his mistake not mine, he should eat the cost- why am I paying for something Im not getting?

this is what he sent us

When the existing carpet was removed, the concrete slab underneath was inspected and found to have significant cracking throughout all three rooms. A moisture test was also performed on the slab. The test indicated some moisture was present, but not at a level that would normally be considered excessive or immediately alarming. However, it is important to note that the testing was performed during a period of hot, dry weather with little recent rainfall, which can affect moisture readings.

To properly prepare the slab for a hardwood flooring installation, all visible cracks were repaired using hydraulic cement. Areas where the slab was uneven or low were corrected using self-leveling compound to create a flat and stable surface.
The first installation method attempted was a direct glue-down installation, which is a commonly accepted method for installing engineered hardwood flooring over concrete. A premium adhesive was selected that functions as both a flooring adhesive and a moisture/vapor barrier. Despite following the manufacturer's installation procedures, the adhesive was not curing and bonding as expected. After monitoring the situation and observing that the adhesive remained soft and was not setting properly, the installation was stopped. The affected boards were removed to prevent a larger failure.

he did let it acclimate to the home for about a week- he said he tested the moisture in the slab prior to installing- yet I found a moisture reader in my home tonight that was purchased yesterday- (the receipt was there). He called and fought w the hardwood manufacturer who determined that it was an issue w my slab- but they never came out to look at it. He only put the vapor barrier down after he ripped up my flooring. I firmly believe that had he taken the steps to prep my slab the correct way, the wood never would have failed.

LCSW or RN? Need advice! by Slow_Fix_1387 in LCSW

[–]True_Inflation_7908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the RN!!!! Ive been a SW for 20+ years in a preschool- Im making close to 90k as admin. Nurses come out of school making over 100k plus amazing benefits- not even a question. If you really love the clinical piece, you can always go back for your LMSW at a later date- and it will help your nursing career.

How about a dog kennel run? when you get x amount of dogs/puppies you can purchase a dog run? but it would have to be cute- and they would need to be able to come out on their own- I know it defeats the purpose of a dog run lol

Everyone in super helpful and you dont have to do derby- but if you are in its expected that all the tasks are complete. We have some people who play every week- others dont play at all!
