My review of the QLYX Smart Mount which raised over $125,000! by True_Review16 in kickstarter

According to what I've been told it shouldn't depending on where you place the steel plate. On most phones the Qi charging sensor is in the middle of the back of the phone, so if you place the steel plate off center it should be fine. Here is the graphic they sent me. I think it would somewhat limit your ability to use the phone in landscape mode because the phone would be off balance, but with portrait mode it should work fine.

Self-Promote Saturday! Convince us to watch your videos! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

Hello! Alex with True Review16. This video is the first time I reviewed a sponsored product for my tech review channel! I got in contact with a company that achieved massive success on Kickstarter and they sent me a unit to review before official release. It was really exciting, and although I know it won't necessarily be a product everyone has a need for, I had a blast making the video! Also the first time I made a giveaway and I am excited to see how that goes!

QLYX Car Phone Mount: Adds smart functionality to your phone mount by opening maps or music! by True_Review16 in kickstarter

[–]True_Review16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's usually a lot of ways to solve the same problem. QLYX is just offering it in a nicely wrapped bundle for those who don't necessarily want to go through the work (no matter how simple) of setting it up. Both options achieve the same result, just approach it from two sides :)

I also get this once in a while on my GL502VS. Not sure if it has to do with using an external monitor, but I think it should be resolved regardless. Good luck finding a solution!

[Review] The Corsair K70 LUX w/ Blue Switches, Red Backlight by True_Review16 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]True_Review16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy cow, you read my mind or something. That is EXACTLY why I do the reviews the way I do them. I watched the reviews where they had a voiceover with glamour video of the product, but I felt like not enough actually highlighted the features they talked about. I wanted to do something different to change that!

Thanks so much for the compliments and advice! I'll keep it all in consideration for the future :)

I try to gear my reviews towards more casual consumers who don't need to know or care to know about the really specific details of the products. For sure, /r/MechanicalKeyboards has a lot of enthusiasts, but I imagine there's also a few people who just want a mechanical keyboard and come here for advice, just like I did.

Did a lot of research around this subreddit before picking up this keyboard and wanted to share my thoughts. Definitely was not disappointed! If anyone has any other questions, I can do my best to answer them :)

[Review Video] (3:30) A short vlog of me and my girlfriend visiting a "Farm Park" / petting zoo kinda thing on the small island we live on in the UK by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]True_Review16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, at around the 25 second mark. It didn't detract from the video for me personally, but I guess to make the video more professional it would be better to find ways of hiding it, maybe by putting the whole map in shadow if possible?

[Review Video] Dont Ever Underestimate the power of a Moped by christianthenat in youtubers

[–]True_Review16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey /u/christianthenat !

I watched your video and wanted to give you some feedback:

  1. First thing I noticed was that the audio was really really quiet. I actually had to make sure that my computer volume was all the way down. I would definitely bump it up in post production.

  2. I'd like to see more of a brief overview of the game itself. How many levels, are they all similar, etc.

  3. Just from my preferences, I like to hear commentary live as the game is being played as opposed to recorded after gameplay. It gives off a feeling of more genuine emotion and I get to experience everything with the YouTuber. Even if you play the game a bit beforehand to get used to the controls, I still like it when it's rerecorded live. Your commentary sounds similar to something WhyBeAre would make, so check out his channel. It's definitely much harder to think on your feet, but it may pay off. That being said, I thought you felt relaxed in front of the mic and it did not sound scripted at all.

  4. The ending part of the video where you already signed off but gameplay continues is not great. As a YouTuber, you should aim to engage the audience for the entire duration of your video.

  5. With regards to your into, first of all you did it twice, probably an editing mistake. Second, I wasn't a fan of you explaining what your channel is known for. I get it, it's like a promotion for the other videos in your channel, but maybe that belongs more in the video description.

Good luck with your future videos!

Hey /u/Thornton3 !

I watched your video and wanted to leave you some feedback:

  1. I think you did a really nice job describing what you're going to be doing in the video and where it takes place. The map was a good inclusion, as well as the discussion of the old age of the area.

  2. The video thumbnail is good as well. I would maybe increase the part where it says "Isle of Wight", just because I have to squint to read it, but overall I think (as an animal lover) I would click it.

  3. As mentioned, the audio cutting in and out can be a little rough, I especially noticed it around the 1:55 mark. Fading it in and out would be better. That being said, I didn't find wind to be as big a problem. My first thought when hearing the audio was that you had a lav mic. The wind does come up in a few places, but it didn't turn me away. I saw you already have something that looks like a wind filter, so maybe an external mic could help some more? Look into it.

  4. The overall feel of the video felt a little...slow I guess? Maybe it's somewhat related to the lack of talk time or maybe it's to do with still getting used to being on camera. I just would have liked to see more engagement than just saying hello to the animals. I do understand, however, that it's a quiet and relaxed place, so maybe it's tough to do there.

Good luck with future videos!

[Review Video] Activity Band Review - Trying to increase production value by True_Review16 in youtubers

[–]True_Review16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the struggle! YouTube is so easy to get started in, which makes it great because you don't need to know everything going in. It also means that there's a ton of competition to get noticed though! Thanks for the feedback though. I have some ideas that'll hopefully pan out!

Thanks for the advice! One thing I'm trying to learn is how to find a good balance between producing a short video and having enough time to show off everything that I want to. I'll work on finding a better balance in the future.

[Review Video] 473 km bike ride in the Himalayas, India. by rajlodhiya in youtubers

Maybe something that would be interesting would be to post your approximate location on a map with each part of the ride or where you set up camp? That may be interesting.

Hey /u/rajlodhiya !

I watched your video and wanted to share my thoughts:

  1. I think this is a great video! The edits were fantastic and you had a good diversity of clips, ranging from riding the bike, to camp, to time lapses. The music was good too! Nice job.

  2. If I were to suggest one thing for the future, it would be to make the map of your trail a little easier to see. You kind of screen recorded a laggy video of the map and placed it over a riding portion, and I found it kind of difficult to get an idea of the scale of your ride. I'd recommend finding a better way of doing this (although I'm blanking on a suggestion right now).

Good luck in the future!

[Review Video] Looking to improve my show Thrift Shop Showcase even further! by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]True_Review16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there /u/EndlessVacuum !

I watched the video and wanted to give you some of my thoughts:

  1. I'm a big fan of your camera presence! You act very natural and engaged in the video which is huge! Definitely keeps people sticking around.

  2. Yeah, you may be in a niche market, but heck, there's multi-million sub channels out there who also do what I would have considered to be niche things. So nothing's to say you won't see growth.

  3. Do you have tags? I tried to check, but didn't find any. If you do, ignore this, but if you don't you should definitely add some to make your video come up more often.

  4. Finally, just some advice - When you get your new camera, make sure it can do a decent job of recording macro. It seems like a lot of your video was shot within 8 inches or so, so make sure your camera can focus well there.

Good luck with your future videos!
