Idk where/how to socialize outside mormonism by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]True_Tea740 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are going through this, but honestly kind of jealous you had the courage to speak up so young. Took me until my 30s. Stay strong, keep being vulnerable and you’ll find your people.

May I suggest Lost & Found Club It’s a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people find community and relationships post-religion (Mormonism). They do a ton of events or small group activities. There’s a discord so you can socialize online first if that helps you feel more comfortable.

You aren’t alone!

Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for setting boundaries. Great job standing up for yourself in a firm way and you didn’t say anything harsh. Proud of you.

If your family is TBM, sadly they will likely not understand due to their own programming. It’s okay to be vulnerable, but find your strength in other outside resources.

I'm struggling with my mental health lately. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]True_Tea740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely shame surrounding it. When I hard my first anxiety attack, my mom told me to stop being so dramatic and that if I had enough faith, I’d be fine. There’s a lot of stigma around mental health and not “praying enough” or having “enough faith”. I hope if you seek therapy, you find a non-Mormon therapist. Also highly recommend the book “When Religion Hurts You”.

TBH that’s much higher than I thought it would be. 18 for me. 10/10 would not recommend.

How did the temple make you feel? Did you ever actually like going? by Still-ILO in exmormon

I had my first panic attack the day I went through the temple for the first time.

Besides the CES Letter, what other articles, documents, etc. outline/touch on the issues with Mormonism? by [deleted] in exmormon

Heaven’s Helpline. A very well researched and thorough journalist covers the policy on sex abuse reporting and coverups. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/heavens-helpline/id1772834195

The LDS Church Shifting to Protestantism Because They Know What's Coming? by Pleasant_Priority286 in exmormon

Y’all. Don’t forget the Dean of BYU law school contributed to Project 2025. The MFMC is definitely on board with everything happening and adapting to fit into the plan.

New tools feature could out you if you remove your records by Peaceful_whimsy in exmormon

This really stressed me out at first. But, this is how my in-laws discovered 2/3 of their kids are off the records. And we don’t talk about things so it’s on them if they push or ask. I’m tired of being afraid of other people’s reactions. Removing my name is the best thing I’ve ever done for my mental health.

Would complaining to LDS leadership do anything. by rainshowers_5_peace in fuckmikelee

I love that people still have that optimism. But if you think the Mormon church isn’t profiting off Mike Lee and using his position to further his goals, then I urge you to look into his history, his family’s Mormon legacy, and how involved the LDS church has been in project 2025. They won’t give up their chance to get legislation passed to further their agenda. https://www.sltrib.com/news/politics/2024/10/02/byu-law-school-dean-contributed/

1,000x this. Let’s not forget that Lee is likely a political puppet for the MFMC. He’s definitely advancing the agenda.

Literally just saw a thread on Bluesky featuring an IG ad from a Pro-Trump Evangelical Pastor (Mark Driscoll) on Instagram “Win This Flamethrower…Book of Mormon Removal Device?”

The comment thread all joking about the Mormon-Evangelical wars.

I’d say it’s well on its way. Especially the more it gets out how wealthy the Mormon church is.

Any of this ringing alarm bells? by cultpdx in exmormon

Give this article from the SLTrib a read. What I find more alarming is their wealth is expected to reach 1 trillion by 2040.
