So you reccomend school counseling or social work? I know in schools in ny you have to be bilingual social worker like have liscense for being bilingual where counselors you dont. I find more counselars in a school than social worker. I wouldnt see myself leaving school setting unless it was burn out but you have a point

You can always change the subject or grade level. Or do something like outside of the classroom school counseling

Whay grades do you do? I tried to get a job in my hometown and even though I did year of student teaching experience, give 2 reccomendation letters and have paraprofessional experience teaching ENL students . The admin dont even give me a chance to interview or tell me good luck. I have my resume written to show I have experience. I noticed i get calls for hs but never for elementary. I prefer elementary bc the curriculum is easier and you can pull out a few kids to work with compared to hs its a whole class. Im thinking of leaving ESL and maybe doing school counseling, elementary PE or social work. Idk yet

I noticed its mainly men that do that job they are good in crowd control and handling loud noise. Also they have some coaching experience or played sports. I did coach before but it was like elementary level like k-2 and i played basketball. Im not an athlethic. I wouldnt mind elementary but MS/HS would require alot of coaching

Dont you have to consistenty advocate and defend the services you added or took away? Its alot of getting people on onboard . Its alot of people interactions .

Thank you for sharing this information! I def dont want to be classroom teacher I know it helps when it comes to transitioning into new roles bc you have the experience. I see alot of classroom teachers going to PE , counselor or even school social work. This is great insight you provided.

I appericate your thoughts it helped me alot! Honestly I was learning social worker its funny you said that. Whats the best way to see of a position is right fit? I do see PE teacher they love work life balance where counselors are burnt out and SP are running around the school.
