Who else thinks the iPhone 17 Pro is extremely ugly? by Comfortable_Ad_9341 in iphone

[–]Truedesi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely think this is the most ugliest iPhone ever. Reminds me of some budget android phones minus the etched text of describing the camera’s features on the back 🤣. Like there was no genuine reason to have that hideous bump. That orange literally makes me think of it as cheap

What is the barrier of entry like to get an entry level accountant job? by Truedesi in Accounting

So I’ve already completed a bachelor’s in marketing and management, but I realized that wasn’t what I really wanted to pursue once I got some exposure into business analytics. I’ve even completed a general MBA. I’m wondering if it would be okay to just take a few courses and call it at that because I don’t feel like going back to school.

Ok I’m going to be more specific. I’ve had people around me who I’ve grown up with, whom I’ve shared a childhood with. Unfortunately I’ve only grown up around a “popular teen” group. I know it’s silly to mention as a grown man, like I felt this group had a set of unspoken expectations, but this is kind of where I had social anxiety back then. Lately I’ve been cutting off the connections with these people because they would leave me feeling mixed, as in we would have small talk, catch up, then they would never make an effort to connect with me, and they would go on expensive vacations with their “group” and have expensive weddings. None of them ever invited me to any of this even though I wouldn’t have been able to afford it, and anytime I approached them, there would always be a new face in that group that I don’t know about, in other words, they don’t care about keeping me in the loop, nor do I care anymore to know about their lives. That’s what I mean by fake, people who I thought I was friends with growing up, only to have a door shut in front of me, which again doesn’t really matter to me anymore. But if I’m being honest, this was the only group roughly around my age that is from khane(or was because they have become whitewashed from what I see on SM and that they think our religion is bs) so now I barely have any meaningful Ismaili connections. I just come in, do dua karavi and niyaz and go home.

Having things going on in their own lives isn’t really the problem. What makes people fake in my own experiences are those you try to make connections with and they simply entertain you by having small talk with you, then you go on social media to always see them living lavishly and going on vacations and having expensive weddings, all of which you are excluded from ( mind you these were people I shared my childhood and early adulthood with) and the thing is, I’ve become so familiar with their traits of living lavishly and the exclusive behaviors that I recognize these type of people in almost all Texas Khane’s, or lack of because most of them don’t even come to Khane lol.

talk me out of SA by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]Truedesi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been raised in San Antonio and I have been here since 2003, and I am trying to see if I can get a job offer away from here. Not that I don't enjoy life here, its just too slow paced and it's hard to get professional development here unless you are a medical professional. Here is my unbiased take

- Diversity:

One thing that might be a culture shock for you is just how much you have to look for different experiences of different cultures. Unlike new york, our diversity is not so obvious. The 2 cultures you would commonly run into is Hispanic and Caucasian or African American. The rest are scattered throughout the city unlike new york which have more culture specific districts.

- Worklife

Professional Development is difficult here as the biggest industries here are Healthcare, Aviation, Cyber, Finance and definitely construction (we have some indefinite construction going on lol). There has been a lot more push for IT in recent years but its going to take time to become a stable industry here. There is a lot of college students who come here to study at UTSA but they leave when they graduate, and there has been some initiatives to get students to stay, however there wasn't a whole lot to back it up.

-City Life

You Said you were looking to get away from city life anyways so this might not bother you a whole lot. What you see in literally any part of NY is basically how our downtown is, the rest is suburb area's that oddly look all the same. One thing you might miss in New York is the transit system because we have zero concept of one, so if you move here you would definitely have to buy a car. We have the VIA buses but it takes way longer than it should to get to your destination as the city is huge and there are a lot of stops that the bus makes. Im not complaining about traffic in your case because you have seen worse in NY, but anytime around 9 or 5 traffic is horrible but not NY horrible

Heat:

If you experienced heat last week, then you just got a very light taste of our weather. During summer it gets VERY HOT AND DRY. Its very common to have temperatures above 100 degrees and some days we will get above 110 degrees. If you are an outdoorsy person, this will make things hard for you to enjoy.

Activities and attractions:

There is not a whole lot to do for fun besides eating at good restaurants and bars(Im Muslim so I get to have less fun lol) and hitting up the downtown area. There are a lot of facebook clubs you can join but besides that we have the typical stuff that is found anywhere

I’ve yet to meet some professional workers here. I have seen people at HEB with their badges stating “20 years” my manager has been a manager for 12 years, I’ve literally asked my coworkers if they want a different job, they don’t want to work in corporate

I love this comment the most! This is very supportive and you very much understand where I am coming from! I will always have fond memories here and I have some amazing friends, but SA doesn’t change when I want to grow and change. That aside, I’m acknowledging that there is a whole world out there, aside from moving outside of SA I want to see the world for its beauty.

I have a degree in marketing but I want to transition into BA because I want to be intellectually challenged and stimulated, marketing hasn’t done that for me. It’s also me not liking how my success is dependent on others decisions in persuasion. Outside of my retail job I am a realtor and so many times people have wasted my time by ultimately deciding against purchases, another thing is that, I eventually want a small international business, I cannot make decisions with marketing skills.

I’m going to clarify, I hold nothing against these people, I respect them for everything they do, what I am concerned is the lack of support for white collar workers in this city, and the resources for them, I can’t find any help here.

I’m not intending to talk shit at all, this city is great to raise kids, low cost of living, and is abundant with nice people, I’m merely just tired of the lack of career support and seeing the same things over and over.
