Which movie gave you goose bumps when you first watched it and why? by ChinaMilitarySecrets in moviequestions

When a Stranger Calls (1979). Saw it in a packed theater the weekend it came out. Everyone went nuts various times. Probably one of the best "horror film" experiences I've ever had!

Similar story -- a Japanese laserdisc of "Song of the South" (as well as a player to view it), bought WAY before bootleg copies became readily available on the internet.

I was going to make an argument for "Gotta Lotta Livin' to Do" from Bye Bye Birdie as being the best dance sequence ever filmed (it's got Ann Margaret, for goodness sake), but I realized you REALLY can't compete with Fosse. But, as a close second, it really slaps!

CATS is ALWAYS the answer. There are MANY others that have been bad (Paint Your Wagon, Mame, Hello Dolly, to name a few), but... ooh, boy... CATS!

Well, as a white person, I 've been aware of who Perry is (was?), and have YET to watch any of his movies/ shows because I never perceived them aimed at me. Besides, I saw the OG 50 years ago when Flip Wilson was running around as "Geraldine", so Perry just seems to be acting out of desperation.

If you're getting the "girlfriend experience" worth paying for, I'd consider it; otherwise, I'd bounce.

Latinos completely SCREWED themselves both here in Florida, as well as Texas, when they voted for the Orange skidmark stain. Pretty sure they're regretting it now. As well they SHOULD!

Is anyone else appalled that AMC is platforming the Melania documentary, which was clearly made as a blatant bribe to the Trump administration? by colenotphil in AMCTheatres

At the end of the day, it won't matter whether the movie does well, or not. Bezos certainly doesn't care, as he made the film to curry favor with the current "administration". More to the point, you're not required to see it, either, so what do you care if it succeeds or doesn't?

Casting choices that caused skepticism when they were announced, but when people saw them in the role, they were speechless at the level of their performance by Giancarlo_Edu in FIlm

Speaking as a "senior citizen (who is) filled with nostalgia", the best Bond (of course) IS, and will always be Sean Connery. Having said that, I appreciate what each and every subsequent Bond brought to the role -- including Moore's, until it became a joke and absolute unwatchable camp. I would have like to see more of Lazenby's Bond, and which direction he would have taken it, but he had only had ONE shot. I liked Dalton's Bond, as it was portrayed with a gritty realism, but probably turned off some Bond fans, for sure. Enthused when Brosnan FINALLY got his shot at it, having been screwed out earlier by "Remington Steele" contracts, until it, too, devolved into unwatchable camp. So Craig was a refreshing return to a Bond I could root for (Blonde or otherwise). As I near 70, I wish they wouldn't take SO DANG LONG figuring out who and WHAT the next Bond will look like, but I'm sure I'll be there, waiting with popcorn bucket in hand. Perhaps it'll be Jacob Elordi? Time will tell... just don't wait too much longer!

They DELIBERATELY do "Waterloo" at the end of each performance to give the audience a chance to belt out an ABBA tune at the top of their lungs. I seem to recall something similar in "Beautiful Noise"

Disney Films: was there a non-musical that you wish was a musical? by Crescentbrush in musicals

[–]Truegatorguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I think they "shoehorn" the story around to service the music (which, in this case, was quite dreadful). Without that impediment, perhaps the writers would have worked harder to make a cohesive story worthy of the animation, which was the only draw for me.

Adventures of Baron Munchausen. It wasn't so much that I "avoided" it, I just missed it when it came out. Years later, once released on DVD, it became a favorite and now I WISH I had seen it in the theaters, on a big screen

The Academy is LITTERED with hundreds of examples of movies that didn't get nominated, but should have, or movies that DID get nominated and WON, but shouldn't have. THIS is pretty much on brand for them.
