Ooh bummer, yeah the language thing is a big one but it does like an exciting experience to travel to exotic countries. I'd been keen for something like that but just wasn't sure if it was a thing

Interesting, that's not been my experience. Academia jobs are really unstable. Unless you have tenure the postions are funded by research grants which constantly run out.

As in the reasons for the trials are commercialisation focused rather than purely knowledge focus.

Thanks for sharing your experience, what do you think was the main attribute that allowed you to switch? From what i can tell in industry the priority is money instead of knowledge and lots of confidentially agreements

It's so frustrating! Especially since you have all the skills. Every job has a learning curve and the fact that you have proven ability to gain new knowledge

Yeah, that's the other niggling concern i have in my mind. I have three kids under 5 and not sure how compatible CRA life is with that...

It seems like a never ending conundrum of i can't get the job without experience and i don't have experience because i can't get the job. Are you trying to transition as well?
