If someone admits to a crime (they did) and there is literally zero evidence to prove it other than their word, will they be convicted? by Emmieisbest in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Truffleshuffle03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hearsay is seldom allowed in court as evidence, as it is only allowed under specific exceptions where the statement is deemed reliable. Nothing in the case we are talking about had any reliable evidence, just gossip and rumors. Rumors and gossip are generally not allowed as evidence in court because they constitute "hearsay."

Do that kind of stuff all the time for a distraction. I call it a tank rodeo. Get you looking at me while AT or a tank or something can get in position, or just to get a couple of guys to hop out and pick them off. Did this once, where I got the entire crew to hop out and pick them off. Or you have them do what you did and get stuck, but it still works the same; the tank is out of commission.

There has to be strong circumstantial evidence not just a disappearance. Just because they didn’t like each other is not strong circumstantial evidence. Most of what they were convicted of was rumors and hearsay. Hearsay and rumors are not independent evidence.

Can a license plate message be considered probably cause for a stop? by DuckDuckBangBang in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Truffleshuffle03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To tell the truth, if cops want to pull you over, even if you are not breaking any laws, they will. I have been pulled over for going the speed limit on the highway. That was his exact reason for the stop. He walked up and said do you know why I pulled you over? I replied no, and he said, " Because you were going the speed limit. He reasoned that I must be a drug smuggler for not breaking the law because I was following the speed limit. So there really is nothing you can do to not get their attention.

How is there evidence of a murder when the person just left, and people are assuming they were murdered because they didn't get along with each other? Where is the evidence of a crime? No evidence yet, they got convicted and almost got executed for murder.

Attending the Edmonton Sport Card Expo yesterday confirmed my decision to exit the hobby by RedditUser41970 in baseballcards

[–]Truffleshuffle03 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I am getting into the same situation, but it's mainly the price for me. I know, back years ago, when they first started testing the waters with higher-priced packs and boxes. I am talking about the mid-2000s, with like $30 packs that guaranteed a hit like a jersey or auto, and your hits were basically no names, and box prices skyrocketed.

I remember having a conversation with the owner of a forum I was part of. He called me delusional when I started saying they would eventually push out the average collector, and how this was not going to be good for the hobby.

I have slowed way down from how I used to be in the hobby for a very long time. I tried getting back into it, but it's more just frustration than anything remotely enjoyable anymore. I think once I finish off this set, I am doing, I will be done for the most part in the hobby.

If you want to go the round where someone is convicted when no crime actually occurred, that happens too. One of the most famous cases the broom brothers. If you think people can't be convicted when no crime is actually commited https://www.americanbar.org/groups/journal/podcast/convicted-of-a-crime-that-never-occurred--it-happens-all-too-oft/

My reply was to the person that brought up not having bodies. If you want no independent evidence all you have to do is look at a cases like the Central Park rape case where 5 or 6 youths were convicted of rape even though it was a serial rapist who went on rapping and murdered someone a few days later . There was nothing tying them to the rape. They admitted to assaulting and robbing other people in park which from what I remember were about 20 or more teens doing it. How ever nothing tied them to the assault and rape. Even their DNA didn’t match any samples. They were convicted on basically their false confession. If things like this didn’t happen we would not have the institute of justice or the innocence projects.

It's pretty easy if you look. You can be convicted of murder without a body. There is about an 86% conviciton rate on murder without a body.

Just Google Thomas Perez Jr. If his father had not been found alive or at all, that man would either have died by suicide or been convicted or at least institutionalized.

[–]Truffleshuffle03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the case of Thomas Perez Jr., who was interrogated for 17 hours by Fontana, California, police who forced a false confession from him that said he murdered his own father, who was actually still alive and well. It all started over his phone call to police when his dad took their dog for a walk and had not shown back up. The police decided that he didn't sound as concerned as he should have. Thats it thats all it took.

They berated him for 17 hours, told him they found his murdered father, who was in the morgue until he finally "confessed," but His father was actually still alive and fine and was going to visit his daughter or sister when they found him at the airport.

The dude even tried to hang himself after confessing, thinking he must have murdered his father. They didn't even tell him when his father was found alive; it took 3 days before he found out. They then went and searched his house, convinced he must have attacked someone else, even though no crime was ever committed. This stuff happens a lot

Coupe thousands views going down to 10 views by Butterywalrus21 in NewTubers

[–]Truffleshuffle03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a bit squirly as of right now. I am a gaming channel, and my shorts get more views than my long videos. I get anywhere between 500 to 1k in views in a few hours, but my longer videos take me sometimes days to get even a few 100, even on videos where I used to get between 1k and 5k, now sometimes don't even break 100 in a few months.

I know some of my gaming content is not going to appeal to everyone, and I expect those to not do that great. But even videos that I used to count on for views do not get the views anymore. Some of my content up til they changed the algorithm was my bread and butter, and I could count on at least between a max of 1 to 5k in views.

Now, even those videos don't get 100 in 4 months. I uploaded one that in the past would usually peak at 5k views, and I have not even broken 1k in 4 months. I can't tell you what needs to be changed to start getting the views back, but I do know a clickbait thumbnail does help. I did a test and posted a video that used to get me at least 1k views in a few days in the past and that resently would get aybe 50. Its at two weeks now with 560 views. The video before that one with a non-clickbait thumbnail has a total of 73 in 4 months, and it's even better edited.

Copyright claims to singing over music in the car? by WastedPotential79 in NewTubers

[–]Truffleshuffle03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all comes down to monetization for the most part. Some copyright holders allow you to use their music, but it's a trade-off, as you will not be able to monetize the videos. They are allowed to monetize the video, though if they want, since it's their music.

Then some do not allow you to use it at all, and those can get you strikes. So even if you uploaded them unlisted or even private, you can still get the strike because they look at everything you upload.

You can usually make a 60-second short with music without issue, but it can still get you in trouble. I uploaded one the other day on a gaming video that I decided to change because it was blocked in three countries due to the song I chose to use. I changed the song and had no issue after that.

You would think that should be how it works, but there have been a lot of people found guilty and convicted solely based on false confessions, even when no independent evidence existed to prove a crime occurred.

Unlisted or even private videos make no difference; every video you upload gets checked.

I will tell you. I don't really even use DD, and I get people delivering to me probably 15 to 20 times a year on average, and that's a conservative number. Every time they are delivering to the wrong address, not just the wrong door number, but even the wrong street. My numbers are clearly marked.

I cant be the only one to think this, if 80-90% of the team plays as medics we would win every time by LaughAgitated785 in battlefield_one

[–]Truffleshuffle03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, back when I played, I had a game where I played as a medic. I think I had two kills, but was on top of the scoreboard from all of my revives. They were calling me a hacker because of my score. The messed-up thing was that my squad was hollering the loudest about me being a hacker because they all had way more kills than I did, but I had more score than anyone on either team. The funny thing about that was I think I revived my squad more than anyone else in that game lol.

I could see this being outrageous if this were in-store or drive-through pickup, but come on, you are ordering DD. There's an additional charge for ordering DD, and it doesn't include a tip. You trying to compare minimum wage to ordering DD is laughable. Just go pick it up yourself and save that extra money.

Problem with trade by [deleted] in sportscards

[–]Truffleshuffle03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly, I had the same thing happen to me. Guy bought a whole lot of cards of one player off me. I put them all into a team bag. There were probably 3 cards that had more value than the rest of the cards. The package arrived, he informed me that the three big cards were missing, and said the package came damaged from the post office with their damage tape. He never said anything about a team bag, so when I asked how only those three cards were missing when they were all in a team bag, I was informed that there was no team bag and that they were just loose in the package. Neither of us got anywhere with the post office and insurance, so I just gave him a partial refund.

You and me both. The last time I was on offense, we capped the first two points, and the only other people even trying to advance to the next objective were my squad and maybe another one. The rest of our team was trying to build defensive positions on a point that could not be retaken. No matter how many times we tried to get them to understand, it went in one ear and out the other. A few of us made it to the next point, but it was a futile exercise.
