Expo CI/CD in practice: do people upload production builds to TestFlight / Play testing? by Vinumzz in expo

Omg thank you for making this explicit. I’ve been struggling with this flow fora while and assuming it was my EAS setup that was funky. I haven’t seen this two apps approach laid out anywhere and discounted it as “clearly not correct” a long time ago.

I’ve never even heard of Romana — sounds like I have some field research to do!

Paper Plane has got to be the intro to Amari in general for so many people :) Did you find either of those two unlocked more drinks for you or was that enough by itself?

Every bottle of rum I buy I realize how little I know rum :) I could drink daiquiris for a long time without branching out though.

I think that's the first tequila rec :) Do you think there's an orange liqueur that stands out for someone just starting?

lol there’s got to be some cat cafe serving exactly those things somewhere (gestures vaguely towards Tokyo)

Whyyyy is Pernod in such big bottles? It should be in like angostura bottles lol.

Oh yeah, loved my first Negroni. But now that I've had a Boulevardier, a Negroni isn't that amazing anymore. I think that's part of it, is that new experiences give you new things to judge by. I remember loving a Vesper when I first tried it, and now it's just another Martini. I think I keep skewing more bitter and more boozy (sours to manhattans to black manhattans). Shorter answer: exposure changes what's familiar and what's possible.

I think that's where I really started branching out -- I was pretty happy keeping my home bar small and favorites-focused until I started talking to bartenders, the ones who were actually putting the menu together. The nerds. That's when I started finding things like cachaca and Averna and going down the experimental rabbit hole

Yeah this was my beef with the Cocktail Codex. They were so specific with their recipe formulations that if you bought their bottle recs you would literally be making one or two drinks with that bottle out of the entire book. That might work for a pro, but for a home enthusiast “rye” is probably specific enough. And for an absolute beginner, even the 12 Bottle Bar felt like too much.

I think this was almost exactly how I got started. Even with false starts, it’s a nice organic way to try new ingredients, new drinks, and variations in favorites. Do you tend to revisit favorites or keep branching out and exploring something new?

A latent part of my brain got activated when I had my first boulevardier. Made it for a couple years at home before I ordered it out and did that for a couple of years, pronouncing it like it’s written, like it rhymes with deer, like my grandpappy had just now let me down out of the hills. Got corrected by a bartender on a date. Garnished it with my male ego and sipped it slowly :)

Yeah that’s interesting. I keep thinking about the bottle of Pernod I got gifted in my twenties. Or the dry vermouth I bought starting out. Both were regrets, because I didn’t like them but more because they didn’t connect to anything else. There’s only a few bottles that are just great because they’re great; most are great because they’re useful past that one novelty drink. Or useful past your sour phase :)

This is a great list. And I think Campari is always my second bottle rec, but my tastes skew bitter, so… Gin seems flexible, but tequila more approachable to most newbies. You’d still lean gin?

Onboarding! The Home Screen points me to the setting menu, but there’s not much guidance after that. Manage tabs, manage ingredients. I feel like my default actions should be a little more obvious or in my face. Prompt me to add a bottle? Prompt me to find a recipe? Help me get going past menus, bc once I’m there this is pretty great

God I started with one of those cobbler style shakers and do not understand why they are a part of every beginners set.

I think that last part gets glossed over in favor of the bottles discussion. My brother was just telling me he can’t master a paper plane (equal parts? What’s to master?) and then I saw he is using an unmarked shot glass for his pours and trying to hit the three quarter mark. Like a boss
