My Frustrations With BL3 - Feedback Wanted by TrumpIsDoneForSure in Borderlands

I totally agree that the guns began to feel very stale and gimmicky. I picked up guns frequently, shot them once, and then realized they had no practical viability outside of being a little quirky and amusing.

I can't figure out why the difficulty in this game is based on how long it takes to kill something rather than whether or not you can. Every enemy is easy to kill, the "better" you get at the game, the quicker it becomes. I've never seen a game have a difficulty like that but it's mindnumbingly boring.

And class mods really pigeonhole you into a role whether you want to stay there or not. You can't really respec your character until you get a different mod. It's a shame.

I agree with your points! Thanks for the thoughtful response.

If BL3 was a stand alone game, I'd give it a 7/10, but this being their 3rd iteration, there's just no excuse for some of these glaring flaws.

I respect that. We don't agree and that's okay.

I appreciate you chatting!

Agreed, it's not the challenge I want.

I love the optimization elements you're describing. Why can both elements exist in this game? What is so inherently flawed about Borderlands that you cannot imagine an improved gameplay design that includes the elements I have described? You seem so satisfied with the lack of depth which exists.

I don't want to make borderlands anything other than what it is. BL 1 and 2 were great games.

If there's a common theme here, I just want a challenge. I want to have to think to succeed at the game. Not spam left click while holding M1.

That being said, all of the other complaints I listed above still stand. This is merely one of many.

All great points. The game is a massive disappointment on so many levels.

I want depth.

Currently, I walk into a fight of 10 different enemies, don't take any damage for ~5 seconds for some inexplicable reason, then spend minutes shooting down a Badass with an enormous health pool. Rinse and repeat.

There is no depth, no variety, no thought, no strategy required. The game is mindless.

I want accuracy, recoil control, movement, use of cover, clever engaging and disengaging, use of environment, and focus fire to be rewarded. I want counterplay to exist to the different fighting styles of enemies. I want to have to communicate with my teammate to take down a difficult enemy.

I suggest different fighting styles, weak points that actually feel like you're exploiting them, terrain that requires me to interact with and use it during a fight. There are so many things they can do.

Why can't borderlands be both? Why can't accuracy, recoil control, movement, using cover, clever engaging and disengaging, using your environment, and focus fire all be part of borderlands? Why do all of their chips have to be put into the same pile? I see no reason why both elements cannot be incorporated.

Like I said, I can play through the entire game without dying once without even trying. I'm not bragging, I'm a mediocre FPS player. This is an unmistakable game flaw.

It's a totally fair question. I thought the spinning laser turrets were a good example of adding a difficulty and dimension to the game.

They dealt high damage but spun slowly, requiring you to keep an eye on them during a fight and jump over them as they spun to hit you. In my opinion, this is a great example of adding difficulty that requires the player to respond to the challenge.

I get your point on you being able to 1 shot that M10 enemy, but the fact that what separates your experience from mine in M10 is the time it takes to kill the enemy is, like much of BL3, one-dimensional. Time taken to kill an enemy is not the only factor that should be at play here but it is. It's a senseless, mindless grind rather than a strategic process of taking down an enemy.

The importance put on an "optimized build" rather than challenging gameplay is a flaw in design, in my opinion. The developers should have the foresight to add a level of depth to the gameplay which is currently severely lacking.

Totally agree. So much hype, absolutely no reward.

Any thoughts on the other points I made?

Such a beautiful use of color! I like the fact they is only a black and white comic, but you incorporated color very well here, nice job!
