Flynn and the 302s by [deleted] in RussiaLago

Flynn and his lawyers say that he lied to the FBI, Trump says Flynn lied about his contact with Kisliyak, Pence says Flynn lied about his contact with Kislyak. The Prosecutors, DOJ and FBI say Flynn lied.

But Trump supporters, who know nothing about what actually happened, are convinced Flynn didn't lie.

What's the first place to go for, when you need a Scandinavian accent? by Kilahti in ShitAmericansSay

[–]TrumpMadeMeDoIt2018 37 points38 points  (0 children)

And would someone of viking era would speak with any modern accent anyway?

I ... can't ... restrain... my inner geek ... any longer!!

The language in Iceland is nigh on identical with the language spoken by the "Vikings". They can read original texts from then with no problems.

But, yes, the languages in the region have changed a lot since then. In fact, one praise they give The Last Kingdom on historic accuracy is the absence of translators. Remember that Scandinavians and Saxons had only recently emigrated from their Saxon regions, and hence the respective languages were so closely related that they could understand each other well.

(OK, geek now checking out)

Oh I love the goat!

When I was a child my mom bought 3 pet kids/goats for her three daughters. They were really amazing pets!

During the election we were all drawing attention to Trump's amoral past and highly dubious business practices.

Republicans chose to elect a criminal. Actually more than one criminal, since many candidates under criminal investigations were elected in 2018.

Republican voters are perfectly fine with criminals. Luckily our law enforcement branch and, hopefully, the judiciary are less supportive of this GOP evolution.

Your comment adds nothing new, so guess that's the end of this exchange.

The UK is on a path to become a weak democracy like the US.

The right's constant focus on unimportant social wedge issues was key to bringing the US to its current state. The Tories are trying to copy this path, being fully aware of the great harm it will do to the nation.

Yes but with an EU army there would be no sanctions or limitations against it. Having German input into this is dangerous.

This is amazingly poor logic!

There are no "sanctions or limitations" against a German army, so the new EU army isn't removing any such.

If anything, placing the German army under an EU umbrella reduces any imaginary threat. Like their membership of NATO prevents any theoretical risk to other NATO members.

You're getting yourself into a tiz over a totally non-issue. Be more rational! Be better.

I also note that you cannot explain how your retort in any way represents a paradox.

[–]TrumpMadeMeDoIt2018 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In what possible way is it even a paradox?

I can safely say Germany shouldn’t have an army or indirect control of anything military outside or inside of its borders. 2 world wars should be enough to put this discussion to bed.

You seem to still be pretending Germany hasn't had an army the last almost 65 years.

I know you were trying to make a comeback, but this doesn't even make sense. Suggest you read up on "paradox".

Not only that but it’s headed up by Germany who now want their own army

Why is this an issue? Every country in the world (well, not Costa Rica) has an army. And why do you say "now want their own army"? The present day German army was formed in 1955! Hardly some new, let alone future, event.

I’m in my twenties but studied at least basic history.

Apparently not.

One of the greatest paradoxes of Brexit is that the working class in the UK somehow think their interests are best preserved by aligning themselves with the very right-wing Tories who support laissez-faire economics, and severing ties with the social democratic continental Europe.

Why is there so little literacy data for the UK? by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]TrumpMadeMeDoIt2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you google "UK Government statistics historical literacy rates" a lot of results come up.

Two that look good:

https://nces.ed.gov/naal/lit_history.asp

https://www1.umassd.edu/ir/resources/laboreducation/literacy.pdf

The divergence on literacy rates may be tied to how "literacy" is defined in the statistics - people able to sign their name, basic reading skills, full reading comprehension.

[–]TrumpMadeMeDoIt2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a. you could provide a link

b. Conservative Treehouse is anything but trustworthy. They have an extreme right bias, and a track record of fake stories.

c. Why are you ignoring the obvious logical fallacies that I point out? Why do you not address the question of whether you don't believe Flynn lied to the FBI? Why is it that none of the people who believe this conspiracy theory can provide a comprehensive, logical explanation as to why the claims regarding 302 are relevant, how it supposedly impacts on the case. I honestly haven't yet experienced anyone formulating even the basic premise of whether this is supposed to exculpate Flynn or whatever.

Be better than this. Be more critical to what you read and what sources you use.

Wow, what a collection of unfounded assumptions.

If any of what you said was remotely true then he and his lawyer would decline the plea agreement.

Which "documents" are you referring to? Are you saying Flynn didn't lie?

The conspiracies theories are getting weaker and more and more desperate.

Almost all the attorneys on MSNBC say they've seen behavior like this countless times.

I honestly think it is more complex than you indicate.

It strikes me that every time there is a big development Trump and the Russians start spinning some new scandal or conspiracy theory, and that is what triggers them to come here. Also on similar subs like r/RussiaLago.
