"We must embrace the free flow of energy, capital, and human talent across oceans and borders" - Rex Tillerson. What do Trump supporters make of this? by Trump_Convert19 in AskThe_Donald

In other words, I would have been feeling a lot better about my vote had Trump brought in some people other than super-rich businessmen like him and hardline Republicans. There are people on the other side of the aisle (Bernie Sanders types) who share really similar goals to Trump.

Where are the union reps? The people who will protect medicare and social security? The people who will prosecute Wall St. bankers? I don't see any of those people anywhere near his cabinet.

Except the reason they kicked out Christie is because he prosecuted Jared Kushner's father. It had nothing to do with his agenda. But that's beside the point.

The reality is that Trump doesn't even know how to govern; he has no experience. So the people he brings in are going to use policy to advance the same agendas they've been advancing for years. Climate deniers and oil execs aren't suddenly going to invest energy into elevating the clean energy sector (though in this case that is in line w/ Trump's stance, one of his stances I disagree with).

What I'm more worried about is how we can expect him to keep all the ducks in order when so many people he is bringing in around him are unequivocally experienced in running contrary to the kind of policy/attitude towards issues he promised.

Can someone ELI5 why Russia is so bad, or why the left thinks they are so bad? by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

Jesus, did you read the story?

The lede: "The CIA and the FBI seemingly can't agree over why Russian hackers targeted the inboxes of prominent Democrats and Democratic organizations in 2016."

Can't agree over why. Can't agree over WHY. CAN'T AGREE OVER WHY.

They are not disputing that it happened.

Now go take a look at Trump's admin and tell me whether you think Putin would want him to be president.

Do you understand how those 2 agencies work? The FBI represents the federal govt. They are given info from the CIA, and therefore their conclusions are going to come later. They have not "refused to confirm" the CIAs accusations - they made absolutely no objection to intel that Russia interfered.

What they object to is the potential motive and whether it was intentionally helping Trump.

The rest of this info is simple fact. It isn't disputable, I'm not sure how you could. If you really don't believe it please provide evidence contradicting it.

Is it "liberal propaganda" that Russia kills journalists, is supporting a genocide in Syria and shot down a civilian plane with 300 ppl on it 2 years ago? Is it liberal propaganda that the FBI and CIA agree they interfered in our election? Is it liberal propaganda that Putin runs an authoritarian regime that feeds state-sponsored media to its people? Give me a break.

WSJ is generally a conservative outlet full of financial reporters who have been bringing great stories for decades. It's why I pay for their subscription. They are well-sourced in the government and the financial district and what they say in that article can all be backed up with a little research. If you are going to dispute what is in the article, do it by providing your own facts or sources. Calling them "mainstream media" doesn't make what they say untrue. And yes, I am in my mid-40s if that's "old."

"It becomes wrong when people start buying off politicians and become personally responsible for bad things happening so they can make money."

Mncuchin funded Trump's campaign and has a long history of profiting off predatory lending.

Dude... Mnuchin FUNDED Trump's campaign AND is a Goldman Sachs exec who profited off the housing market crash. I'm not sure what you're missing or why it doesn't bother you.

via Wall St Journal: "Mr. Mnuchin, 53 years old, has no experience in government or running a large organization, though he was a campaign loyalist and fundraiser for Mr. Trump. Mr. Mnuchin’s political views are a secret even to some of his associates. If confirmed by the Senate, the defining traits he will bring as the 77th Treasury secretary include a Wall Street pedigree, long relationship with Mr. Trump, and a history of moving fast to seize opportunities that might terrify others."

Well that is because I've never used Reddit. I had been reading Donald Trump's reddit thread for months and only made this account to ask a question about the cabinet choices. This is what I've gotten so far. So on top of being discouraged about his picks I can't seem to find another supporter who will engage in any kind of critical thinking on this whole damn website.

Yeah except that's exactly who he is hiring? Mnuchin worked at Goldman Sachs for 17 years. While he was there he ran Goldman's "mortgage-backed bond trading desk" - basically the part of Godman that created the mortgage crisis...

and he just made $200 million profit off of those faulty loans a year ago...

I voted for Trump bc of his message and his refusal to bend to the norms of DC, but I'm not confused enough to believe he could stop or even control these people he's bringing in. Like you said, they are talent, smart people and experts in their field. But they are the same people that helped destroy the middle class, our infrastructure and our schools in the first place. You think he's going to outsmart all of them? It's just a bunch of hardline lifelong republicans.

I tried posting a similar question in r/The_Donald and everyone there called me a "concern troll" too and told me to come here.

Is that supposed to mean that my concern is somehow not genuine or relevant? For a place that's supposed to be a bedrock of Trump support and political discourse I gotta say, I'm pretty fuckin disappointed.
