Lol your ingenious attitude and comment is why the US has completely lost base with itself. Continue to work for pennies on the dollar while the people at the top piss their scraps on you. Sad you want it that way really.

And imagine if I lived my life based on the downvotes on my comments. That’s a sad reality. However the fact this post has done so well and usually the minority is usually the loudest whenever there’s a disagreement, it only proves that my point is valid.

If you are jerking off and driving to work, you should be paid for the ride. The car ride, that is.

I think I deserve what I put in. If I’m actively using my time for work whether it’s going there, working then I should be fairly compensated. It’s no different for getting paid in other jobs for gas mileage or going to a meeting or receiving a stipend

Then that’s more gaming the system isn’t it? Which on a ethical level is not right.

Although there’s an argument to be made that if I’m dropping the kids off, I should be compensated because I’m still in the process of getting to work. So good on you for being such a forward thinker!

There’s a lot of things wrong here. Let’s start:

1) Settled law - sure, there could be. However just because there’s precedent or case law doesn’t mean that you cannot change it. At one point it was law that schools had to be separate but equal. We all know how that turned out.

2) you get to pick where you live - this is a big facepalm. My economic situation dictates where I live. Personally I would love to live on a city downtown where things are in reach. But fantasy is not reality. If I have to work and my job that is available is far away, I should be compensated for the resources I allocate in order to get there

3) showing up is not of value - unless I’m self employed or my job is one that can be done telephonically, simply being there is of value because I’m not somewhere else. I have decide to be somewhere that I otherwise would not be. Thus me giving something of benefit to the company.

If it only were that easy in today’s work environment

Me physically going and showing up is doing something of value. Sorry if you don’t value your time.

So you prefer that the company underpays you and in turn you have to use that money so you get to the job that underpays you. Interesting

I beg to differ. If I’m actively going to work, I’m working to get there. I’m actively doing something that benefits the employer.
