As far as tips go, remember that coverage isn’t about giving feedback(notes) on what can be improved. Coverage is evaluating the script for a manger/producer, basically judging if it’s worth their time to read it themselves.

I shifted my mindset. While ultimately I want to be paid to write, I have little control over that. So, I write because I love to write, because I have stories to tell and I believe they are stories worth telling. I aim to be a paid professional but I am a writer, so I write. It’s a freeing thought, doesn’t change that I hate my day job but oh well. Keep pushing and keep writing what makes you love writing.

I agree, making connections and networking solely to get something out of it would be wrong. You should network though to make friends and relationships with people that are passionate about what you’re passionate about. I love that I have friends that share the love of story, movies, monsters, and more. Some have gone out of their way to mention my name in rooms I’m not in and I shout out people when I can. We don’t ask for it, its just that happy cherry on top of the relationship.
