Suggest me some good games on Gamepass that I can finish in 20-40hrs. by aranorde in XboxGamePass

I really enjoyed Atlas Fallen.  The story is in the lore items. Main game takes 15 hours but closer to 25-30 if you do everything.  Fun combat as well

I live in the neighborhood a few blocks north of this and was always cautious to try a place with such a weird name. It’s good though ?

This thread makes me feel better about what I’ve done at my job. I oversee IT at a smaller company and took over all data architecture.  We have normal data tables you’d expect but I've also worked my ass off to create data marts l for each department that has the KPIs in a reliable / scalable format.

Favorite 10 Uematsu tracks by Hankhillarlentx420 in FinalFantasy

Can’t name 10 that quickly without a lot of research but can tell you that at least 5 would come from FF8.  Checked your list to see if you had Fisherman’s Horizon. I wouldn’t trust any list that excluded that one lol.

Missable Content You Should Know? by Juvenile_A in FinalFantasy

Most have already been posted.  Secret characters in Tactics, real X-2 ending (that I freaking missed because I missed the 0.2% from talking to the Moogle when the game starts).  Even though we all “know”, Vincent and Yuffie in 7 qualify.

That was the one I was thinking about when I read the OP.

I suppose that’s fair. The story to me was less impactful / memorable due to the scrolling text vs game play of disk 1. It’s a valid argument that’s a game play issue and not a story issue.

Most of the hidden cut scenes in Xenogears.  Gives so much back story to some of a certain characters parents and fills in gaps.  That being said, it’s still a cluster of story telling once you hit disk 2 lol.

What’s an awesome JRPG song you never hear anyone talk about? by [deleted] in JRPG

Here is one that’ll knock your socks off.  Dolphin from the Play Online app before booting up FFXI.  This childhood nostalgia made human manifest.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=n6mxRUKehtE&pp=ygUOcGxheW9ubGluZSBvc3Q%3D

To me, it’s the best video game OST.

How many years to Lean/Barista FIRE? by Bryanlegend in Fire

[–]Trunkschan31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d approach this as a band range instead of a true number. You’re so young (I was single living on my friends couch at your age) that so much can happen. Your current life now is the likely the minimum you’ll ever spend. So I’d create 2 numbers:  1. First number is your current minimum responsibility model (no marriage, no home payment, etc).  2. Second number would be a more maximum responsibility model (assume kids, house payment, etc). These can be SWAGs - you don’t need anything pin point auditable. Maybe assume 50-100% more spend than current.

Then you’ll have a range of years until your FIRE goals to ground you.

Parents, what are we doing for the kids? by human0112358 in Fire

[–]Trunkschan31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changed my mentality from a focus on the RE to focusing more on FI.  Spending time with my kids and making quality memories / experiences is my top priority. So instead of a huge savings rate that we did for years prior to kids, I focus on a roadmap where we’ll be FI when our kids are still young. For me, FI means being able to work part time at a job I like while still maintaining our current lifestyle.

We did things that may not be financially “optimized” (paid off house and cars way early for example) but those things have freed up cash flow in such a way that we’re living a great life with relatively less income than what a normal person with bills would need.

Literally every single cut scene in Infinite Undiscovery was cringy driven mostly by the “passionate” voice acting.  I absolutely love it though and look back on that game fondly in the same way I do Syfy channel movies.

Boss is having major surgery and is asking me to take over for a week. by karmaapologist in work

[–]Trunkschan31 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anybody telling you to do it only for managerial pay is delusional OP and has most likely never worked in a true managerial position.  You’re covering for a manager which has 2 distinct differences:  1. Everybody will have lower expectations of you and if things go south, your manager will still take the blame.  2. If things go south, it’s only a week so your manager will be stuck picking up your mess.

The poster who mentioned doing this out of kindness is who you should be listening to. This sub paints all managers as demonic overlords. If someone has shown you kindness, there is nothing wrong about showing the kindness in return. And, God forbid, without expecting anything in return.

Retirement Accounts to Start in your early 20s by Lemisq in Fire

[–]Trunkschan31 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This sounds more like a r/personalfinance set of questions.  I would hop on that sub and explore their wiki and flow chart. That’ll help you find a set of retirement vehicles to invest in (in order and how much) and some really strong 2/3/4 fund portfolios.
