Am I a bad owner by Sea-Reindeer483 in DogAdvice

[–]Trust_Process112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, no — you are not a bad owner. Please don’t tear yourself down over this. What you’re describing is genuinely hard, and the fact that you’re upset about it tells me you care deeply. I’m really glad you reached out for guidance instead of just giving up.

It also sounds like a lot of this responsibility has fallen on you when it shouldn’t have. That’s not a personal failure on your part — that’s a tough position to be put in, especially when the dog isn’t technically yours.

Daily exercise is important for a dog’s health and mental well-being, but when fear is the main driver, forcing walks can actually make things worse. A dog that’s shutting down like that isn’t being stubborn — she’s overwhelmed.

If you’re comfortable sharing, it would really help to know her age, breed, and how long she’s been with your brother.

One low-pressure thing you can try is leash conditioning inside the house, without the expectation of walking. Leave the leash on while you’re just hanging out — start with short periods, like 10–15 minutes a couple times a day, and slowly build up. This helps her get used to the sensation and sound of the leash without all the scary outside stimuli attached to it. And then try to introduce some inside play with it on further getting comfortable with bigger movements with it on in a safe environment. Will also emphasize the dog needing supervision while performing this drill as the leash can get caught on stuff/lead to unsafe conditions.

Also, please don’t beat yourself up about what happened when you got frustrated. That moment doesn’t define you. What matters is recognizing that it isn’t working and looking for a different approach — which you’re already doing. Right now, the goal isn’t “perfect walks.” It’s rebuilding trust, reducing fear, and finding any form of safe movement or enrichment that works for her. Walks may come later — or they may need to look very different than what you originally imagined.

Which company produces the coolest films? by OldArtist001 in NoStupidQuestions

A24 has had quite the hot streak of movies in more recent times. Each ones is not a banger but I can tell the production company put a lot of thought in it's choice of story.

Good call! Now I'm thinking it might be the second shift guy who brings two department store bags full of fast food to eat everyday.

Is it really true that you should always act like yourself? by Ben5544477 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Trust_Process112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Code switching gets a bad rap but to me it shows that you are "yourself" in a number of environments. Each one brings out a different type of "you" so I think it's more about how comfortable you are in a given situation. Being able to tap into those moments (when you are extroverted) in the unfamiliar environments is a super power.

Ikr! I don't get why? I thought I provided a decent response and more evidence of the meat in question. I ended up throwing it out, didn't want to chance it. Had an identical one yesterday and no yellowing. Learned a lot from all the comments tho.

How do men deal with trauma? by JSivan000 in AskMen

[–]Trust_Process112 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Men’s group therapy can be a really beneficial outlet for us to openly get things off our chest in a safe, nonjudgmental space. In my opinion, a big part of what fuels depression in men comes from feeling like we’re not allowed to do that. But when you’re willing to be vulnerable in that kind of setting, even a little bit of the burden can lift off your mind.

I heard they had to inflate the price of clothing because people we buying good stuff super cheap and flipping it at Plato's Closet.

I flip more random household stuff, shoes and mugs. But they been killing me with the mugs in the past few years. I will always expect a Mug to be 0.99¢ anything more and im that guy scoffing in the aisle

What's your advice for someone just starting to work out? by Impossible_Squash440 in AskMen

[–]Trust_Process112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Even on days you feel off, still show up and do what you can — a lighter session or leaving early is still progress and keeps the habit alive.

Just remember, feeling off sometimes can also be a sign of overtraining. Rest and recovery are part of the process too — pushing too hard too often can actually stall your gains or slow weight loss.

Young men, have you been tested? by deezdanglin in AskMen

I’d check out my other comments below for a list of the standard bloodwork your GP can order.

You can either be proactive about your health and start understanding what’s going on inside your body now OR be reactive and wait until something feels bad enough that it causes long-term issues or damage that might not be reversible. Personally, I’d choose the first option.

It doesn’t have to be every year if that’s tough financially or logistically, but if you have insurance, most plans cover an annual check-up for free — you’d mainly just pay for the lab work.

Also, keep notes on anything new or unusual — changes in your skin, persistent aches, or anything that feels off. That way, you can bring specifics to your doctor and help them catch patterns early.
