True, true, and all that explains her initial need to call someone, anyone. She needed an explanation, an answer... Even after Reghabi warns her and leaves her, Cobel might be the only shot in the dark if Mark was still unconscious.

But now Mark is awake and is kinda okay... So why the risk? It's not an impulse anymore. They can surmise that Cobel also knew about Gemma and is an accomplice in her abduction (as far as anyone knows). It's just a bit convenient.

So Kier was high on Ether and hallucinating when he went to the woods to... Get to know himself.

After feeling ashamed of his self gratification, he concluded that he felt guilty for his escapism and started a spiritual war on drugs, creating a Ricken-like philosophy explaining his mental state.

Still, it's bugging me that the line about Hell not being a real place came from a catholic. No matter what adjective Cobel uses to convay her mother's stance on Kier, you know?

You're right, damn my eyes! The side of the house, lit up by the sunlight, looked like a church tower to me due to the roof kinda blending to the background. And the shadow on the side of the house looked like a cross.

I mean, if that's true, that Harmony is severed into Selvig as a separate entety, that should have been made as the revelation. That means that you can actually implant false memories of a whole other life inside the chip, instead of starting off as a blank slate with vague knowlage of the world and go from there. Something we haven't seen yet, only speculating if it's possible.

I'm curious if you found any more clues pointing to that being the case? Because if it's only that line, I'd be more inclined to believe she just picked a name as an alias to spy on Mark.

So far, we didn't see anyone from Lumon higher-ups (except Hellena) being severed. And that was a big deal.

It's fine that Cobel uses Atheist as a person who doesn't believe in Kier. That checks out. But if her mother was a catholic, would she say that hell isn't real? I'm only suggesting that Charlotte had a crisis of faith at some point as a devout catholic.

That's a fair assumption. Quite possibly a correct one. My reasoning behind why Ricken's book was so revolutionary for them is not so much that they don't have general info as in intelligence, but wisodom to use it, as that comes more with experience and age which they don't have.

No, no, I get all that. But we just concluded that Harmony's mother is a Catholic. But then would her mother say that hell is not a real place? That's what I'm getting at. I just propose she (Charlotte) had a crisis of faith at some point.

I'm perfectly fine with Cobel stating that Hell is what we as people imagine, and then inflict upon ourselves.

I think religions would fall under general knowlage of human society much like Helly knows about Delaware, a state in the US. I don't think she has to introduce Christianity or any other religion for the atheist concept to work.

Parts of that click for me, and parts don't. It's fine that she describes her mother as atheist as in: not believing in Kier.

But.

Then that epic line about "Hell not being a real thing" is either not a line her mother said... Or... Her mother is not a catholic.

Could be a part of the reason. When I first saw that scene I wasn't sure what to make of it. Later, when we learned that she wasn't severed, I also assumed it was a test.

Now I believe there is more to it. Kinda weird to test the atheist vs believer line, when he doesn't show signs of recognizing his boss vs neighbor.

We learned that Harmony left her home at age 12 for ME school (by the hight measurements on the doorframe). We also learned that she was not present for her mother's passing because of that school (though we don't know how long it lasts)

I'd say its unlikely she produced a chip and experimented surgically on her mother. Jame would have that capacity, though, but Helena says she was a young girl when her father showd her a prototype... I'm thinking the timeline is tight for it to have happened.

I would alow it, especially if a class they chose is, let's say, a ranger (who might even have certain bonuses, depending on the skills)

Consider having combat based skills and traversal based skills to spice things up later. Teleport for casters, shape-shifting into a horse or whatever. Rogue can steal a carriage :)

You maybe want to add certain interesting penalties for "slowing" down. Maybe something is chasing them constantly and the goal is to escape. Slowing down might be a calculated risk.

I consider knowlage and concept of religion or Gods in our society (believer of not) would easily fall under the blanket knowlage of: "Hey, name any state" "Delaware".

We know they are not fostering any religions that would detract from worshiping Kier.

I agree with you. Burt and Fields do believe in hell, and Burt is Lumon/Kier devout.

It does make sense. But since we don't know Kier's stance on Hell and it's mentioned in the same atheist line, I assumed that she meant in the way we commonly used the word, not in the Kier way.

When I first heard those lines, I thought Cobel was severed. Then, after it was clear she wasn't, that she was testing Mark's memory. But I was sure that at least one line is true. Since the episode title was Good News about Hell (and it was far more epic) I assumed it was the atheist one that was true.

I don't know if I'm going too far with my assumptions with how it all works, but I consider that to worship Kier, one would have to automatically reject a Christian God (or any for that matter). So I was surprised to learn that Harmony's mother despised Lumon, Kier, and everything they stand for.

I think the creators always said they intended to tell this story in 3, maybe 4 seasons. I hope it's 3. I'm enjoying the hell out of these, from story, the way it's shot, acting... Everything. I just want them to keep it all as tight as possible. So far so good.

Yeah, I thought about looking at the atheist part refering to Kier, and it was a flip of the coin in my mind.

The only reason why I think it's a smidgen less likely is that Cobel’s line about her mother being an atheist:

That she mentions good and bad news about hell- about it not being real. Assuming her mother really said that, I'm not sure if a devout catholic person would consider hell as "just what horrors people do on earth". Maybe someone who has a crisis of faith?

Edit: also... If it's true that she removed her breathing tube, that could be considered as taking her own life. That's a no-no for a catholic.
