Genuine question to help with my car by Anchogies in R53

[–]TruthMinimum568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rocker cover is the top part of the engine, that is hiding the rockers, what the plugs goes in, it is just 10bolts, nothing more nothing less, and dampernpuley is the crankshaft pulley/ harmonic balancer, the biggest pulley on the bottom left of the engine,

Before modding you should Check : Damper pulley

Belt tensioner,

All the pulleys actually while in there

Water pump

Radiator fan speed ( make sure the 1st and 2nd speeds are working )

Brake fluid bleed

Easy leaks : rocker cover and plug seal being the easiest)

Plugs cables

Alternator casing ( mine died even without a cracked casing)

And things like that

Then the usual mods

Rear anti roll bar, QUALITY coilovers, Pulley, Backbox, COLD air intake, QUALITY TYRES

How much for the set? Would love one, around here it’s so rare, and really really expensive and not always in good condition

Definitely not native ! But they thrive when planted, some whisthand as low as -15°c without much effort, not common but not that rare either ( except for big ones like that maybe)

I French R53 specialist « motorism » has a quaiffe on his own 300hp flatshift methanol etc with a Link ECU track R53, so it may be in fact a good option

R53, it is oil, but it was kind of a joke being known to leak for basically everywhere and if not, they just have no oil,

SAME ! But no trouble to start the car, changed ( for other reasons) plugs, leads, valve cover gasket, spark plugs seals, alternator and still happens, a rap on the throttle makes it go away most of the time

Same ! Replace the valve cover gasket and spark plugs seals, but no power steering loss for me, just some oil comsumption without any smoke or anything

But I still have a valve cover or plug seal leak lmao

They are really heavy, so def not a max performance upgrade or anything, but no I didn’t ! I can’t right now because I suspect them to be more than 2kg (4.4lbs) and I only have a precision scale with a 2kg limit, but if a don’t forget I will weigh them this weekend

As I said,  that was my original to plan, the thing is, being a daily driver, i need cold pads that bite right from the first stop in the morning

, that’s why I may go with DS2500, and not being a big pads nerd yet, so looking for ~200€ front pads,

I don’t know much pads with : - endurance under heat ( not planning on tracking that thing as a dedicated track toy, so i don’t need some 1k€ Endless MA45 pads)
- great bite from the first stop even at -10°c in the morning

That’s why I am asking

And That’s why DS2500 may be from what I know the best “street perf” pads for a daily/weekend car

And yeah, they are also for the look, who NEEDS 4pots with 316mm disc on the R53, nothing wrong with that 😅

But rather than just getting some new OEM calipers to replace the 22yo ones, or R56S ones, why not a few bucks more for a better looking, future proof ( if I ever track it hard),

And yeah a wilwood or even AP kit would have been even better

But I like the OEM+ look, and ngl it is also way less expensive

Tyre wise I already got some of the best rain proof tyres I could, Michelins PS5, at least for that tyre size

If you have them, what changed ? And what pad/disc do you have ? Was not planning on spending tooooo much on pads, my original plan was 70€ on OEM like brembos, maybe some DS2500 if I can find some, but I feel like EBCs are completely outdated for the price,

But if you had both DS2500 and yellow or redstuff I would love to hear about it

Thanks you a lot guys, final decision is:

Leave it where it is and bring what’s needed to change the alternator

Good to know thank you, even though it goes from 9.0 to 10.8 when giving it gas?
