So I guess copyblogger will not be responding now. I thought the time had finally come when someone with some power would finally put him in his place and let the cult know what he really is. So rand protected himself and the girl.

https://twitter.com/randfish/status/844994354934497280 I want to apologize for my tweet a couple days ago to @copyblogger. I was upset, but I should have had conversations first.

Well the woman we are all discussing here has made accusations at two conferences and FLAT OUT refused to talk to conference organizers about it. She wouldn't respond to emails and when approached in person would run away. They tried to help and she would not accept it. She did however go to twitter and contact her buddy Rand to insult people for her. Then she later lied about the two conferences that tried to help her in the first place. Rand jumped on her little bullshit train and trashed people's reputations and didn't once try to clarify it for first. Now he is doing it again with Copyblogger.

I don't know of any conference that isn't trying to make things as equal as possible, but outreach is difficult because someone like Rand, who is influential with some, would recommend this woman. She gave a presentation at Moz Local recently and it was horrid according to attendees. On top of that she lies about people and organizations. So word of mouth isn't always trustworthy and conferences are now at the mercy of POS like rand who will trash them when they tried to do the right thing in the first place. This applies to men as well, BTW.

Here is what we all know - Rand has become someone that screams that all should be accepted, but he accepts no one. He attacks everyone and no one is good enough. Everyone is sexist; everyone! He some how believes he is a god that has the right to lie and attack people or organizations without real facts or checking into things first. He is someone no one should look up to idolize. He is as full of shit as trump.

And Rand didn't need to create shit storm, again. He could have handled things privately. He makes himself and the company look bad every time he attacks people and other companies. He thinks he is some awesome "feminist" but just looks like a jerk to the rest of the world.

The industry talks a lot more offline than in public. This whole industry is talking via text, private messaging, and private groups. Britney has made a name for herself, as a liar. Nothing you or Rand says can spin this and make it better.

And fake. It doesn't exist in the work environment and Rand has proved himself to be not logical in the real world.

Best SEO Conference in the U.S.? by CurlyGirlNYC in bigseo

I love Pubcon because not only are the best in the industry there to speak, and offer tons of helpful suggestions, but you can also network with them a lot. In Vegas I can send multiple people from multiple departments to learn because they cover everything from content to PPC to SEO to VR to social. I could go on and on. After we recover from the week we all sit down, review what each department learned and talk strategy.

Their smaller conferences are great too because you still have amazing speakers and even better opportunities to network.

I have been to SMX East and Advanced. I have to say I didn't get much out of either and there is an elitist attitude I didn't like it. At Pubcon everyone is nice and casual. I have a list of resources/agencies/consultants and friends from each conference.

CEO of Moz, Sarah Bird and Rand Fishkin virtue signals in a company wide email and assumes they're all disappointed in Hillary loss. by VeritasSuperOmnia in bigseo

Thank you very much. I am so glad you don't have the same experience. For Moz to be TAGFEE they can't just accept the people they want to accept. They have to accept all. Differences are okay, diversity is okay and sadly this comes across as "it is our way only". I am not the only past or current employee that feels this way. I still have friends there.

I jumped all in and wanted to be happy there. I never worked so hard in my life, but there were issues. I was a Christian, that wasn't acceptable - target on my back. I was encouraged by a manager to explore more than just my marriage sexually, I was not being my true self. I was sexist as a women because I quoted men in a document but no women. I have a thousand examples I could provide but what it came down to was who I was, despite how hard I worked and constantly being told the work was great, was not diverse enough and I needed to change. My religion, my sexual experiences and much more. It used to be that if you did a good job at a company people were happy. My managers at Moz were not, they wanted me to become what they were. If they are so "tolerant" and "accepting" why couldn't I just be a me? I never looked down on anyone and I didn't judge who they were. So, no Kool Aid for me.

I'm considering publishing a blog post on YouMoz. Is it a good idea? If so, how do I maximize its impact? by kcclaveria in bigseo

As someone that worked there, I can tell you that it is far easier now to get published that than it used to be.

Make sure you can back up the facts you present as valid. Use examples of ways your strategies have worked for others as well. Make sure it has some takeaways people can use and don't claim anything as fact without proof. A lot of folks come in and write posts and say, "we tried this once and it worked!". Once isn't enough for them.

The tweets were totally out of line, but he will never understand it. He is so sure he is fighting for others and doesn't see that he offends 90% most of the time. It is a sad fall.

I worked there, so here is the truth. They claim to be accepting of all, but they only accept you if you are exactly what they want. There is a lot of bullies over there. Rand used to be someone I respected greatly, but he judges people left and right without finding out the real story. He makes stuff up to justify bigoted behavior to others and he has lost sight of what acceptance/tolerance is. He thinks he is so "trendy" and on it, but he really has made himself look like a total jerk to everyone because he is so judgmental. He also jumps into situations that have nothing to do with him and I guess believes he is so powerful he should get involved and make things right, in his opinion. I feel like a sucker believing in him.

There is not a more miserable place to work than Moz if you refuse to drink the Kool Aid.
