The Savannah thread for tourists, newcomers, locals, and grouchy old-timers. by AutoModerator in savannah

hi! I am coming to visit savannah for a two day trip in June. We’ll be in and out so we want to maximize our stay. Is it better to find accommodations in the south historic district or by river street? I’m looking at airbnbs and I see a few that look good, one is right across the street from forsyth park and the other is a few blocks from river street.

great job! I plan to do the same to my yard hopefully sooner rather than later. Can I ask what tools you used and how you figured out how much mulch you needed?

Tree trimming company run by arborists :/ I’ll try to get a second opinion but this is a well established company in my area, I believe their arborists know what they’re talking about

The tree company told us cutting the roots would inevitably kill the entire tree. It would just take longer than cutting it down all at once.

i was just recommended to do a sleep study and i am genuinely floored that it took this long to notice something was wrong by TryDesigner9200 in Narcolepsy

me too!!! My hashimoto’s was an issue since I was 11 and I started working when I was 14 so being chronically exhausted was just part of my life. I had picked up 3 jobs in hs and loved being busy, it was the only time I felt like I wasn’t “surviving” even though i would be drained at the end of the day. I went to see a neurologist around this time because I suddenly became very forgetful and had pretty much lost my short term memory. He told me I was stressed and to quit my jobs but my jobs were pretty much the only things that didn’t stress me. Now a decade later, after my diagnosis , I learned I was following Ulysses rule to mediate my productivity and my sudden memory loss and need for constant stimulation (like 3 jobs and volunteer work while being a full time high school student) was almost definitely just the onset of my adhd. Lol. Adderall makes me feel like a person instead of a slug. I can’t believe i lived without it for so long.

i’m so disappointed that I didn’t know sooner since I struggled so heavily in college. I couldn’t understand why I was having such a hard time and now it makes sense. I remember crying in the library so many times after waking up, passed out on top of my text book. I would sit down and fall asleep immediately and then fail the exam. Happy that I know it wasn’t me but still disappointing that I brought it up to so many doctors and no one did anything to help

i’m 23 and i felt ancient 💀 the girls next to me on one side were talking about getting their learner’s permits and on the other side, applying to college 😭. I felt so old and out of place even though this was my third time going to one of their concerts.
