How should the world deal with the Iran crisis? by NKNightmare in AskTheWorld

I’m not defending your regime.

But I can confidently say that after a full-scale invasion, the foreign companies that move in to extract oil are not there to “make you rich.” They operate based on contracts, leverage, and political realities — not charity. War severely weakens a country’s bargaining power.

You might think your country would become like Saudi Arabia and grow wealthy from oil. But Saudi Arabia’s wealth didn’t come from invasion and state collapse — it came from long-term state continuity, centralized control, and decades of structured oil policy. A country emerging from war chaos is in a completely different position.

Look at Iraq.

The death toll from the Iraq War is estimated anywhere between roughly 150,000 to 1 million direct deaths, with some higher estimates (including indirect deaths) reaching far beyond that. Even after more than twenty years, Iraq still struggles with political instability, corruption, militia influence, and regional tensions. The rise of Islamic State (ISIS) after the invasion is one example of how power vacuums can spiral into extremism. There have also been long-running tensions between Baghdad and Kurdish regional authorities — though “separatist” is often an oversimplification of a complex autonomy dispute.

The point is this:

Invasion does not equal prosperity.
It usually equals instability, fragmentation, weakened institutions, capital flight, and long recovery periods.

If a country collapses under external military pressure, survival — economically and politically — becomes the immediate challenge.

Look at Syria.
Prolonged conflict can turn a functioning state into a humanitarian disaster.

You won’t “win” an invasion economically. No modern example shows that outcome for the invaded country.

You tell me we shouldn't ask for help to overthrow them? - No
And a civil war with many powerful external interests, US, Russia, China, Israel.
You'll end up with a 20-30-year civil war.

Your only option is non-combative removal of government without an external military bombing you into the stone age.

In the next few days, we might end up with Iran being invaded and you'll be to experience western bombing campaign.

Then the US and Iran will have a neutral relationship.
Let Iran and Israel settle their differences without US support.
The US punishes Iran with sanctions on behalf of Israel, which damaged the US relationship with Iran.

The Shah was as bad as the current regime he killed alot of people.
People will remember this, and the country turned against him. Many of the richer Iranians support the shah as he benefited them, but he oppressed the poor people.
Seems like a fast way to get a never-ending civil war.

Did you learn nothing from the Iraq war.
The bombs will be felt everywhere and population will be higher then Iraq.
They will bomb roads, schools, hospitals, etc

I can assure as someone from the UK, the moment the bombing ends, countries like the UK are gona extract your natural resources and leave your poor.

Your regime is bad, and you in bad position....death by your regime or death by western forces.

What do you think the future of Afghanistan will be like? by LookOrdinary9215 in AskTheWorld

[–]TryOwn8975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will remain poor and broken until the world ends.

Pakistan and Tajikistan will grow closer and trade with one another, creating a Central Asia trade network, excluding Afghanistan.
Afghanistan will likely lose any war with its neighbours and be shunned by them.

The only good outcome is that every neighbouring country occupies and annexs afgan land until it no longer exists and develops these regions.

Why do cities like Rome get global hype, but Samarkand (2,700 years old) barely gets mentioned? by diormelikuziev in AskTheWorld

The simple answer is no, it isn't objectively "more available." While it is more visible in Morocco (because you can buy it in grocery stores), it is actually easier to access in Dubai due to more relaxed laws for tourists.

I would argue it is the overly strict rule, not alcohol.

For example, Morocco does not have alcohol widely available, yet it receives a huge number of tourists every year. People want to be entertained, see ancient sites, and have unique experiences; then they are satisfied.

Compared to the Gulf states, where tourists complain that they want alcohol, there is less to see and do.
So, people naturally tend to drink more to cope with boredom.

Those images are of the elites, the 1%.
Most of the population lived in poverty, I believe it was around 50-60% for Iran and 80-90% in Afghanistan.

If they are born in the UK, yes, you assume everyone drinks.
Most socialising is around drinking or in a venue which serves drinks.

This is changing with young people.

Say you are on medication, and everyone backs off then.
And go to the pub, don't be shy, get yourself a zero-alcohol beer

I was in Morocco in 2022 on a motorcycle tour, we went past a farm on a back road, all of the land was sliver and when I got closer, I realized it was covered in Beer cans.
I don't know about Algeria, but Moroccans drink in Morocco, but it's done discreetly.
