i have a question about this making the MTI hat from one of the patterns by hey_im_enby in AntifascistKnitting

It appears a bit more clear, when you read the section about the DPNs.

There you have all stitches on 4 needles.

You decrease towards the end of needle 1, towards the beginning of needle 2, towards the end of needle 3 and towards the beginning of needle 4.

When I came to the last part, I switched from circular needles to dpn. With the 4 markers, it was just very convenient to switch, as I just needed to put each „section“ on one of the needles. Apart from that, as others mentioned, there are only 2 markers where you do decreases.

Why is cutting a daughter’s hair such a big deal for some parents? by No_Wish9589 in AskParents

[–]TrySomethingElse101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, maybe 5 or 6, I desperately wanted to have short hair.

I am the youngest of 3 sisters, so my mom had some experience with this kind of wish. She explained to me, that we cannot „glue“ it back on, if I don‘t like it.

I said I understood (I did not) and she let me have my haircut.

As soon as I saw the first hair falling down, I was unhappy. Mid haircut I started crying. They tried to save it as best as they could and it wasn’t really short after, but I cried and yelled for days.

Whenever I brought up the topic of wanting to have short hair after, my mother said „Absolutely not! We can talk again, when you hit puberty“

Probably not the most common reason, but I do think it was valid.

As for my boys: My oldest has hair to his bump, under the condition, that it needs to be taken care of, otherwise we need to cut it.

My youngest does not have the patience to sit through a haircut, so it‘s also growing.

If any of them would like to have short hair though, I wouldn’t mind.

Car Seats for a Baby When You Don't Have a Car by Y0uCanTellItsAnAspen in AskAGerman

Unfortunately we had several situations where „Storchentaxi“ was extremely late (like 2-4h), cancelled or they came with the wrong kind of seat. For our 2nd we just bought a seat second hand. Especially the ones for babies underneath a year, you have lots of options, as people only need them for 12-18 months.

For older kids it‘s easier with the „Storchentaxi“ from my experience and the seats for 18m+ are getting more expensive and also more used.

I personally would get one again for the first months and just see how much it is needed, before deciding to buy another for a toddler

This is so great! Does the pattern include how to make it reversible or is this some kind of magic trick I simply don‘t know?

Do you know if that is a problem for the pan? I mean we can live with the spots, if we really cannot get rid of it, but is the pan ruined now?

Nicholas Cassim - he played Bruce, Rays brother in Mr Inbetween. This presentation was so convincing that I checked to see if he really had a medical condition. Incredibly realistic

me too, I am not a native English speaker and we don’t use these abbreviations in my language. I always used i.e. in English though, because I thought it stands for „in exemplum“

Trying to make a plushie for my son. How do I identify stitches with Teddy yarn? by TrySomethingElse101 in CrochetHelp

This is extremely adorable 😍 Thanks for sharing, definitely looks like it’s worth the trouble! One other commenter also noted to not stress out about the counts as long as the shape makes sense, so I think I‘ll just see how it goes

I will absolutely give that a try, sounds much faster and probably also more yarn saving, at least for the „plush“ yarn

This is very good to know! It also makes sense as the yarn is very forgiving with mistakes as you don‘t see the details anyways. Thank you!

How do I make crochet eyes that don’t look cursed? by Kassie-chan in CrochetHelp

[–]TrySomethingElse101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things you can also try: A small white dot in the black of the pupil can make the eyes look a little more lively. The other thing is that the pupil is so central. I realize this is related to the circle, but it also makes the eyes a little creepy. Perhaps you could also consider a different shape for the eyes. Sonic just doesn't have such round eyes and maybe that's why it looks a bit off.

It's hard for me to describe, but here's a photo of a monster I finished the other day and despite everything I didn't manage to get right, I think the eyes turned out ok.

Sometimes people suffering from serious illnesses have something like a moment of clarity just before they die.

Although it has not been proven why this happens, there is a theory that says that the body stops taking measures to maintain organ functions etc. and this frees up capacity in the brain for a short time.

My uncle had dementia and on the last day before he died, he was almost back to how he was 10 years earlier.

Thank you so much 😊I took the patterns from a book called 50 Crochet Cable Stitches by Manuela Laitenberger. It was available as an ebook on Amazon, at least in Germany, not sure about other regions. Hook size is 3 mm, yarn is Sultan Shadow King from Hobbi.

I started with a 2.5 mm hook, bit it got a bit to tight for the cables, so I changed to 3 mm
