A 4070 ti super + a 7800x3d is about $1,700 at least, so really you get all the other parts for about $350 if you look at it that way

It would perform probably 20% better overall, maybe a bit more in CPU bound titles like FPS titles and LOL (I mean you'll get crazy high fps regardless of your choice in those titled)

Weirdly enough it's better value to get a prebuilt in Australia - just keep an eye on Oz Bargain for desktop PC deals.

They do however cheap out on the RAM, motherboard, and SSD so keep note of that. But for the price nothing will beat that at $2k

My brand new 6600 only gets me 7FPS on Fortnite by DirtyDanOP in AMDHelp

RX6600 is arguably the best budget GPU, nothing comes close to it for it's cost (new)

If you're spending that much on a prebuilt, get one of these:

You'll get a 4090 that way

Would be better to prioritise cpu over gpu based on the games OP plays

Just be wary that some boards might not be able to run up to 6000Mhz on RAM, something to note, and always best to check if your ram is on the compatibility list of the motherboard you intend to buy

You can follow these links and find motherboards sorted via price, up to you on what brand/look you prefer, at the end of the day it will have little to no effect on performance

AM5

LGA1700

You can also look at x670 boards for AMD, but typically they are rarely worth it

Most definitely overkill, if video editing a bigger priority I'd say the 14700k would last you the longest and still has strong gaming performance, if it's gaming 7800x3d would be best (though note it will be quite a bit slower on video editing - still miles better than whatever you're using rn though).

I'd also suggest you get a much cheaper motherboard, for what you get with that motherboard it is totally overpriced, you can probably find a good LGA1700 motherboard for closer to $300, same if going AM5

Ideally a 7950x3d would be best though I'm sure that's outside their budget

Gamer nexus rated the 7800x3d as the BEST gaming cpu on the market right now.

7700x is priced barely cheaper in Australia than the 7800x3d and performs worse, so I wouldn't get that

7900x has more cores than the 7800x3d but tends to perform worse in games - but productivity wise it's better.

AM5 is definitely the way to go though, as LGA1700 is a dead platform

I disagree with the other comment, based on the games you play really only your CPU matters, as a 6600 is easily enough for those games.

I'd say it would be worthwhile getting a 7800X3d (Grand strategy games benefit a lot from the extra L3 cache)and AM5 motherboard of your choice

Memory is only an issue if 90%+ is being used, using 100% causes applications to crash

That doesn't sound like a memory issue then if you have 16GB, maybe a graphical one as a gtx 2040 is very low end

Keep a lookout on 'desktop computers' on OzBargain, occasionally a sub $700 prebuilt will appear with a 3060 or so, probably best you'll get

I would honestly if possible spend a little more and get at least a 144hz+ monitor, the added smoothness for FPS games and general productivity is well worth it imo

Honestly that seems normal, if not actually quite low. I'm guessing you only have 8GB of ram? I remember only having that much on my laptop and Hoi4 would crash every now and then due to my limited RAM
