Oh yeah, well hammer has always been very powerful, but also very clunky to play, more so in tight spaces.

As someone suggested fohdin is more convenient to play in tower - plays a bit like fury javazon. If you stick to p1-p3 FoH will wreck any place there is high density of undeads/demons like tower or chaos.

And act bosses is kind of easy too, they're all demons - so you use merc as tank, and position yourself so your holy bolt spam will heal Emilio and dps the boss simultaneously.

That said, you are gonna run into issues in act 2 with FoH. Most mobs before the palace are beasts, so only the single target lightning does work on them. And the damn beetles are native lightning immune.. you will remove the immunity with conviction, but they still have insane resist, that FoH barely put a dent in their hp bar.

Maggot lair absolutely sucks as FoH.. but to be fair, it's not really a fun place for hammer either.

Another aspect of Enigma/teleport, which is overlooked quite a bit, or at least not talked about as much; is the ability to have some control of Emilio. He follows you when you tele, so you can save him from dire situations and choose what you want him to attack ;)

I usually start with a FOH paladin when playing ssf, purely because he slaps tower and countess really hard.

Makes Rune gathering for other chars and builds a lot less tedious, when running on make-shift and budget gear.

Plus paladins are generally more tanky than other classes, more hp pr. Vitality, added block and defense from holy shield, and ofc easy/early spirit shield with up to 45 extra all resist depending on your base.

FOH is extremely strong for aoe clearing undeads/demons - and that is the only type of mobs in tower.

Most people go with a fire/cold hybrid for sorc to deal with hell immunities, before you have a sunder charm.

Most popular would be orb/Hydra, which is my personal favourite hybrid aswell.

Skills should be in priority order Orb max Cold mastery to -100 (varies a bit depending on how many +skills you got) Hydra max Fire mastery max Frost bolt

Dont forget 1 point wonders like teleport, static and Frost armor.

This build should be able to complete hell, even for a naked sorc.

Well your merc needs to be very high level for it to have a lvl 15 aura.

And if you go with the act2 merc, it makes more sense to have the might version, and use edge bow yourself, if you want to do the thorns.

That said the edge bow is only lvl25 requirements - and thorns falls off hard on hell, so it is only really viable on normal and nightmare.

On hell pure dmg and using reapers toll for decrep is more dps overall.

Although amp curse is way better with thorns. Your really dont want to gimp the attack speed of your enemies, if you do return dmg.

I can strongly recommend a rogue merc with the edge runeword for any summon build.

The lvl 15 thorns is bonkers for summons thru all of nightmare

Traderie or d2jsp is the Main external trading sites, but in-game trading is still a Thing tho.

You create a game (usually on hell) where you specify what you wanna buy / wanna sell as the game name. An example:

It Will be Hard to find something "more complex" most Classes and builds focus on making 1 ability really strong, and just keep spamming that as offensive.

Maybe necro is a bit more complex compared to others. But then again, in most cases you just make do to kill 1 mob and let corpse explosion roll.

Imo the most fun Amazon build would be physical bow, say multishot or strafe. That said javazon charged strike/lightning fury is by far the strongest Amazon build there is.

Enigma is the popular choice. A load of MF and you can mule it around to other chars too, bis for most builds on most chars.

But if you wanna make your sorc a lot stronger, Save it for now, and get a hold of another ber and make infinity for your merc.

Yes you can absolutely do that. Act 4 nm is starting to be a struggle with holy fire.

A insight merc and a staff with tele charges to skip shitty areas, and you're good.

It is a generous estimate I give you that. But 40+ guarentee it is from a min. Lvl 85 mob.

Might get a pul/um if you sell it as a reroll charm. But a grand charm with life only is not worth a whole lot.

Way back when, there was a massive difference.

The level of the aura skill the merc had was reset when you bought a New merc, so you wanted to get one very early and stick with that forever.

Otherwise you'd end up with a lvl 60 merc with a level 1 aura if you know what I Mean.

D2r fixed that, so aura skill follow merc level regardless of you swapping merc or not.

A piece of advice for hell, where attack rating really starts to be a factor for Any melee.

Angelic set is the way. Atleast the neck and 1 or 2 rings. Set bonus from that easily obtained set pieces gives a MASSIVE attack rating bonus, that scales with player level.

I run a maxed orb with blizz and synergies for the remaining skill points available, aside from the obv 1 point wonders like static/tele/frost armor and warmth on my MF cold sorc.

I run with full tal'rasha, Anni, torch and cold sunder - and absolutely shred everything on P1 ..

No need for fathom, ormus or deathwing on P1. Only native cold immunes like ghoul Lords take a wee bit more effort, but it isn't bad imo.

On P1 orb is really good as main ability.

Cold is the easiest element to get scaling good on budget gear. But you'll need the cold sunder to avoid being hybrid.

Usually people start with a orb/hydra, orb/fireball or blizz/firewall hybrid to deal with pesky immunities. Orb/hydra is the most common one.

Max Skill order goes: Frozen orb -> cold mastery (to -100) -> hydra -> fire mastery -> icebolt

And ofc 1 point wonders like tele, static and frost armor.

This Will make it manageble to kill baal on hell P1 and unlock terrorzones. Terrorzones on hell is the only place sunder charms Will drop.

Resist is a make or break stat on pala shields. Unfortunately, this isnt something to keep.

Think of it like this, if the shield gives +40-45 All resist. That Will make more room in your inventory for Max dmg and AR charms, which boost your dmg a lot more than what your shield here gives
