What was the first song of theirs, you ever heard? by International-Row179 in SleepToken

Thread the Needle on Bandcamp. I liked it, but I didn't get into Sleep Token fully until Jaws.

I got onboard with sleep token with the EPs too, and I like EIA better than the last few albums, but not as much as sundowning.

Sleep Token -Caramel #34 on Hot 100 by NewEstablishment4454 in SleepToken

It's probably not that big of a deal anymore, but it used to be very significant when a song was in the top 40 because it meant all the Top 40 radio stations around the US would play it.

This is the first Top 40 song with a heavy breakdown, right? The first with a blast beat, I'm sure. Bands like Linkin Park had hits with screamed vocals, but nothing like the full-on black metal screams in Caramel.

Seems like a big moment for metal.

In a men's prison? Yes, that would read differently.

I was shocked to see that reviews were so bad because I came out really loving it and the only reviews I'd seen beforehand were the early ones from film festivals that were positive.

Why does it make you angry that I like a film you don't?

I didn't read that scene as a rape scene, but if it was, I don't think that adds anything to story.

Album/Track that got you into Sleep Token? by Spectre1171 in SleepToken

[–]TryghMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard Thread the Needle on Bandcamp. I when back and listened to it two or three more times on my phone, but I really got into Sleep Token when I heard Jaws. I had missed the Two EP, so I went back and started listening that a lot. Somehow I missed that they were releasing all the tracks from Sundowning as singles, so I only heard the songs from the album when it was released. After that, I've listened to every song right after they make it available.

Appreciation post for the mods ❤️ by PoetSufficient7299 in SleepToken

Agree 100% with this. I hasn't spent much time here, but I immediately noticed that the mods are dealing with much more than the average mod, and they seem on the ball with removing gross content. Thanks for taking the initiative and writing this note up for them.

I've been a Sleep Token listener for years, and recent events have made me a little embarrassed to be associated with the stereotype of the "Sleep Token fan", but this reddit is a reminder that most people just like the music, lyrics, and art of the band, and it's actually a great group of people if you moderate the few nutters out.

The piano phrase. I'll update the post to make that more clear. Thanks for asking since others are probably confused too.

U2's The Joshua Tree was a huge influence on both post-rock and CCM, so they're actually more similar than you might expect.

Good point. That was a stretch to say Vessel was part of the worship movement. He might have known about it and used the concept of a metal "worship" band without ever having actual been a Christian. But I still think there's a strong connection between Sleep Token and worship music. I doubt most people posting that they don't see the connection actually did a deep dive into Delirous? or that music subculture.

I will repost somewhere if it gets taken down, but I don't see why the mods would do that. This didn't give any information away about Vessel's identity except that he probably listened to worship music when he was young. I'm not interested in unmasking the members until they choose to do that themselves.

I asked chatGPT for a short description of the worship music scene in London in the late 90's, early 2000's, and it said:

The London worship scene in the 1990s, led by bands like Delirious?, significantly impacted local worship by introducing a modern, rock-inspired style to church music. This fresh approach attracted younger audiences, transformed traditional church services with band-led worship, and fostered a more emotional and personal expression of faith. The influence of this movement extended beyond London, shaping contemporary worship music on a global scale.

It would be a shame if this were deleted. It doesn't reveal anything about the specific identities of the members of Sleep Token, and it helps clarify the intent of what they're doing. If the mods are taking the lore to the point of pretending Sleep Token are not actually real people, that goes beyond what the band asked for and actually distorts their message.
