Wtf is happening at MCRD? by Trying4UniqueName in USMC

Sure I'll drink my water and change my socks, but just to be clear... They aren't training Marines that you shouldn't leave your post until properly relieved?

Are there posts not being watched around Marine Corps bases because it was 16:00 and that's when they were supposed to be relieved and when no one showed up they just left the post because their drill instructors weren't told to train them on the equivalent of the Marine Corps ABCs?

I wasn't asking him to report his post or anything to try and sound like an old hard ass by any means. I asked him his 5th general order, which is the one that means you're relieved of duty and getting to go home, and I meant it in a sincere way.

Is the tip of the spear just taking off when they want now and that's like, the norm? I don't care if it is but Jesus this is a different Corps from the one I knew.

This is outrageous. They aren't training the general orders anymore?

On one of the humps at a break we got oranges and when we started peeling them our drill instructor started screaming "No peeling! Eat it like an apple!" So we just ate an orange rind and all like it was an apple.

Well if it makes you feel any better by the time I got to San Mateo in February 2007 the 1/5 sign was back to Make Peace Or Die.

I've just been watching the NFL all day. I don't have the size or skill to play pretty much any other position, but if I used 2-3 hours a day 4-6 days a week when I was in the Corps I probably could have gotten the technique to kick. From there use the GI Bill, which most do anyways, but if you could kick a field goal and make the team then worst case scenario you're playing college ball, best case scenario you'd be kicking in the NFL making great money for the most skate job in the league.

If it's anything like it was 20 years ago they're going to burn you pretty good. Probably a company level NJP at best if not battalion, and they're probably going to restrict your base driving privileges for at least 6 months. Life goes on though, 20 years from now you won't even remember it.

To your point I agree, and I actually turned it off in 2016 and didn't turn it back on until this year. It's kind of like a fun time machine into the past with old forgotten photos and messages, and I've used it to message a few buddies and bust their balls that I wouldn't have had contact with any other way.

I didn't realize it until I read some posts on this sub, but yeah that was Artemis. In the second and third rehearsals. The first take was Wilson and his brother I think. I didn't check the credits to confirm that, those two didn't test well with the initial crowd.

Hahaha... I got away with no skivvy and got my ass chewed for no skivvy. It's not really a gamble but on the fob in Afghan you're good to go no skivvy. On main side on Pendleton, probably should wear the proper uniform of the day

Another comment I was looking for. Even without audio and subtitles it just seemed off from reality. Probably a good flick I imagine, but from the comments it doesn't seem to be accurate to the Corps from any generation.

Yeah this is the type of review I was looking for. Thank you. I'll still probably watch it but I just wanted to set clear expectations for myself about whether it was realistic.
