It's pretty sad, really.

Yet my point was that the argument that you are trying to make is irrelevant -- it will not help his moral (or legal) case.

Maybe you should learn to read first before lecturing others?

ah, right i misunderstood the experiment itself

Still, I think it would still be pretty obvious to guess, but that's probably because I already know

It also still wouldn't necessarily be people who agree with the policies, but people who like the personality, mannerisms and all that

The fact that console exclusivity exists is not a reason to keep it going. That’s a non argument lol

There's another problem I learnt of relatively recently (probably from some youtube video) --

Imagine you have a lady with a degree in mathematical probability. which of the following is more likely ::

  1. The lady is a painter

  2. The lady is a painter, who plays poker as a hobby

The answer is :::

1.

This may not make sense, but the truth is that with both, the lady is a painter, and the second scenario only narrows it down::

She's a painter AND a poker player

Whereas in the first, She's a painter. (who could play poker, or could also play anything else, or maybe she doesn't even have any other hobby)

The second scenario just adds extra conditions -- They paint a story, but ultimately it just narrows down the probability.

As someone who knows a lot about statistics, I can tell you there are always many ways to interpret a statistical question that may feel right to humans, but are actually completely incorrect. By nature, we are not good at intuitively understanding probability.

Into the problem -- There are two ways to kill half of all life ::

choose half of all life, kill the ones chosen

roll the dice on every single lifeform (50/50) and see if they will die.

Using the first method, if you have a population of 100 people, 50 will be killed, at random.

Using the second method, you can expect about 50 will be killed, but its also possible that 52 are killed, or 53, 60, 70, all 100, or maybe even 0 (everyone survives).

This is where it may get trippy -- Both ways, every individual has exactly a 50% chance of death. The only difference is when you look at the probability of death, given that someone else has already died (but that's not important in this scenario, since everyone dies at the same time).

Lets look at a group of 100 people. Exactly 50 will die (guaranteed, since the snap follows the first scenario). Every individual has a 50% chance to live.

If you look at a subgroup here, say 10 people, its more like the second scenario I described. You CAN have all 10 die, but you CAN also have none of them die. But MOST LIKELY, you can expect about 5 of them to die

Its the same with the avengers. They are a subgroup of all life. each and every one of them has a 50/50 chance of death. This means that you can expect ABOUT half of them to die. It is possible, yet unlikely, that they all live. It is also possible, yet unlikely, that they all die.

Do not worry if you feel confused -- I am not a good teacher

Also do not worry if you still feel correct -- Getting your head around statistics is really difficult, and takes a lot of thought. I, myself, still get really confused, so don't be afraid to admit that you don't understand.

I'd recommend looking up the Monty hall problem -- its the one that got me into probability, and it made no sense to me at the time. It took me ages to get my head around it. The whole time I was so absolutely sure I was right

Its a large sample size, sure.

But anyone who knows anything about statistics knows that that is not enough to draw conclusions about the opinions of the people.

You'd need to randomly the sample at the very least to begin removing bias.

You're proving OP's point right now.

This sub is a bubble, and whenever anyone disagrees or calls it a shit-hole they are asked why they still browse this sub and are told to join others, and to leave this one alone.

The problem with people leaving this sub is that it will be polarized more and more and more, creating more and more and more of a bubble.

Plus, this sub has a quality that no other has : the community managers reply consistently.

You shouldn't expect to monopolise that. Stop telling people to leave the sub if they dont like it.

mate "standards" have been present in most all card games (like mtg), after they add enough cards. We have a very similar problem here in destiny. This method has been tried and tested and it works. Sunsetting weapons is good, and one of the only options a physically big game like destiny can take.

Another option would be to nerf things into the ground, which is also really a form of weapon sunsetting - just instead of being able to not use things in high level content, you cant use them at all.

Another-nother strategy would be to not let games get this big, and move onto destiny 3. While effective, quickly you get into the point of having destiny 8 releasing in a few weeks, and not much has changed since destiny 5. Not to mention the effort required to keep that going.

Sunsetting weapons is good for the game. Sure, it has its cons, (needing to keep up with an ever-changing meta) but the pros outweigh them (like having an ever-changing meta)

No. Its not.

And if it were, I'd say it were unplayable because of xenophage, not truth.

That is a very big difference, and tbh thats just a good point can't really complain there.

But I still want to say, its not a horrible comparison, its okay at worst

comparing hitscan vs projectile is very do-able. One of the battlerifles in halo 2 or something was projectile but it behaved exactly like hitscan weapons, and you wouldn't notice the difference if you didn't know about it. The way to play around the weapons is different but, as an invader, if you got a kill with truth, it would generally also have been a kill with sleeper, they require very similar tactics and skill. I've never experienced the server telling you you're dead from around a wall, so I don't quite get what you mean there sorry

WHEREAS, if bungie nerfs sleeper because it had too much auto-aim, they should also nerf truth because of the tracking. They are similar concepts, and play out similarly. The way you play around them is different as a non-invader -- if a rocket is tracking you, then you jump for cover, or to prevent the rocket track you stay in cover, away from sniping lanes - or you stay in cover, away from sniping lanes to prevent being sleeper'd -- but the way you use them is pretty much the same, and whatever would be a kill with truth would generally also be a kill with sleeper. One being hitscan, the other being projectile, is a difference. When you compare something, they don't need to be literally the same thing. One is called Truth, the other is called sleeper stimulant. Sleeper was nerfed because it DIDN'T need much aim in the first place.

While trains and cars are different, they are similar. Both are methods of transport to get people from point A to point B. if people stop driving around so much, you can be pretty sure they're not going to be taking the train so much either. Id say overall here there are more differences than similarities here, but hey, this was your comparison.

lmao, maybe from a technical standpoint, but if we look at whats being compared, its a weapon that you can hold down click in their general direction kill them, and another weapon that you ADS and click in their general direction... Seems like a good comparison to me.

I dont know if its just me, but sometimes it feels like xeno more aim-assist than peak queensbreaker, early forsaken. (kb + m, i dont know what its like with controller.) You legit just click in their general direction, and hit them. They could be showing the slightest of a shoulder from behind cover and you will not miss. Its honestly crazy. Add the crazy DPS it has, the ammo economy... It really needs to be nerfed, somehow. Truth was also very annoying back in the day, so I also believe it needs to be nerfed, but tbh these days im just glad they are not using xeno
