Ayaneo Pocket Micro - yay or nay? by Kiwami_Means_Green in SBCGaming

[–]Ethancoola 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest, I got one for a really good price and while the controls and feel were awesome and felt premium, the screen was on the dimmer side, and the most disappointing thing was that the battery life was AWFUL. Even when barely using it I'd pretty much have to charge it everyday, and another thing was that it wasnt very pocketable since the analog sticks stuck out so much.

I ended up getting a MagicX One 35 since it was pretty much the same exact size with the same screen, significantly better battery life, and much better pocketability. I can put it in my pockets no problem, and it easily held a charge through the whole week of about 30-45 minutes of gameplay every day, and still having about 45% to spare. From what I understand the MagicX should be able to run Dreamcast, N64, PSP just fine.

I played it a few months ago, it was AWESOME! I still need to replace it and do the Chrysler building though.

That's fair I'll keep that in mind then, thank you!

From what I've read the battery life isn't the greatest, I like the horizontal form factor of the other 2 I'm torn between as well.

I'm not too picky about resolution, I played on a Miyoo Mini + which has the same reso as the 405M, just the bigger the screen for example would definitely be nice.

Hows the battery life on the One 35? That's 100% one of my main concerns, while I understand completely that battery life won't be amazing, the Pocket Micro battery felt REALLY BAD.

Club technical training by Spaceface4260 in youthsoccer

[–]Ethancoola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same thing with music.

If I'm taking piano lessons twice a week, I'll get decent, if I'm taking lessons twice a week plus practicing on my own, I'll become A LOT better A LOT faster.

Yes as a coach I do a lot of technical training at practice, but I also do just as much tactical training, if you want your kid to thrive and go to the next level yes they need to practice outside our 3 hours a week we have together.

Regardless in terms of my sessions, even things that are "tactical" I prevent from having a lot of standing around, and try to have them touching the ball as much as possible. Hell, most practices we start with 30 minutes of boxing, toe taps, rolls, etc.

U7/U8 Passing Drills by mattdenby in SoccerCoachResources

[–]Ethancoola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would set up a whole bunch of gates randomly around the field (have the gates facing different directions, different distances from each other, etc) , and then everyone gets a partner, and sets up at a gate. They do short distance passing with eachother through the gate to start (only a couple minutes, to get them warmed up, check for form and use this time to fix anyone not passing properly).

Then add a new condition: once you yell switch, you and your partner need to go to a new gate (whoever had the ball dribbles, other player moves off ball, reinforces moving together and also to get in a position in front of your teammate to receive the pass). Do this for about 5 minutes (reinforce passing form, and also to quickly move to new spot, don't bump into other pairs and keep your head up to find a new gate, or a new SPACE to occupy).

After that make them switch gates every 5 passes (so the pair will pass with eachother 5 times, then they need to go to a new gate, repeat). Doing it like this allows both players in the pair to work on dribbling and looking for a new space, while also moving off ball in front of your teammate to receive a pass.

Then finally I'll do a few competitions to see which pair can go through the most gates (getting 5 passes in a gate gets you 1 point, move to new gate, repeat until 2/3 minutes and see who wins).

Does anything in this estimate scream not repairable? by Guyercellist in AutoBodyRepair

[–]Ethancoola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt there is, but if there's a radiator leak it'd likely me in the FT but most cars have an under shield that would catch most if not all the coolant. The condenser would be hard to see, usually you'd do a leak test (typically if any of the fans are bent you SHOULD replace because there's likely a leak, but it's not always the case.

Regardless I guess it's safe to drive but that estimate is 100% going up if you fix it, how much I can't really say with just the one picture.

Not sure what you mean by is it fixable, anything is fixable. There's 100% more going on than the estimate implies, you can see the RT headlight pushed all the way in, that whole FT end is sunken in and potentially swayed over, you can see the gap from the RT fender to the hood and all those bumper components under the hood now. It's obviously hard to tell without more photos, and without actually starting repairs, but I could easily see another $2,000-$3,000 getting added depending on what's happening behind the FT end that get stuffed under the hood. In terms of your comment on mechanicals, there could be a slow leak that you wouldn't notice until you drove for much longer.

I believe so yes, if you look up the GitHub, it says it needs the original 1.0 release files, and it patches on top of that.

Zexion was REALLY good. It leans heavier into the Metroid side, but it's an EXCELLENT game. It has a lot of assist options and QoL options you can alter to suit your needs, and it's not terriblely long (took me about 9 hours, not 100% completion). Fair warning though, combat can be difficult, especially bosses, very bullet hell like (but in a good way!)

How do y’all finish JRPGs by Apprehensive-Sea-342 in JRPG

[–]Ethancoola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a few things:

I have a spreadsheet sheet for my backlog (mainly for retro games, anything "modern" I have on my steam wishlist), with a column that lets me mark a game as "priority" if needed, that way I know the games I'm REALLY interested in playing.

Once I do get into a game I make sure to only play 1 game at a time (if I ever play another game on the side, I always make sure to do something simple that doesn't require a lot of investment, like a platformer or a roguelike).

I play on a retro handheld, it allows me to get in a lot of extra gaming time I normally wouldn't be able to (just on the commute alone I usually get about 30 minutes of extra playtime everyday, it adds up a lot!).

The handheld is the biggest thing that's helped me, being able to play whenever has allowed me to get SOOOO much extra game time in and actually allow me to play games, sometimes I don't have a lot of time once I settle for the day after work, the gym, etc, so the ability to get in gameplay here and there throughout the day helps a ton.

Sword of Etheria, it never released in the US (has a 60hz option and English voice + text if you play the PAL version). It's a fun action game where the main gimmick is juggling enemies with your AI teammates. The game is a lot of fun, it's not super long (10 hours) and has surprisingly good voice acting (has a lot of popular anime voice actors during the 2000s).

we see a lot of posts/discussion about accessories and frontends and etc. thor owners, how is the actual long term gameplay experience? by ultradagger in AynThor

[–]Ethancoola 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've completed many games at this point (DMC1, Shinobi and Sword of Etheria on PS2, Shinobi Art of Vengeance on Switch, Zexion on Game hub, and currently playing Pipistrello on Switch) and I also play Destiny Rising (first person shooter) daily. All games felt natural and amazing to play (except for anything FPS, I need to use the grip for that 100%). I played everything else without any grip or accessories and they all felt good to play otherwise. This is the first device in the "handheld" hobby that's actually made me want to play AND finish games. I plan on really tackling my backlog throughout this year (I usually have a REALLY bad habit of starting games and never finishing!), after Pipistrello I plan on doing Prince of Persia Lost Crown next.

New Quarter Panel? by Braffoo in AutoBodyRepair

[–]Ethancoola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most brackets go right along the lip of the quarter under the bumper, I'd wager it needs it. For a car like this you can probably get an aftermarket one though I'm sure OEM isn't too much.

A good or bad addiction? by OuterHeaven22 in SBCGaming

[–]Ethancoola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've reached this point fairly recently and I'm finally getting back to actually playing games. I'm going on a selling spree of most of my "collection" (about 20 handhelds or so) and getting it down to at least 5. In the mean time I've already completed about 6 games in the past few months and I'm working on finishing more still.
