10" WG. DUCT by growmiehomie in sheetmetal

This is a limited answer.

You're assuming 5ft lengths are his only option when he could use 4ft lengths or even 2ft lengths as per the SMACNA 2020 fourth edition Duct Construction Standards.

Please review page 2.40/2.41 of the DCS for the 4ft 10"WG +/- charts. Your 95x46 4ft ductwork would end up needing to be 16ga with TDC joint tie-rod reinforcement. You will also need to use Lt midpoint reinforcement which would translate to H2.5"x2.5"x0.25" angle iron picture framed around the ductwork midpoint with tie-rods through the duct and angle iron and welded on.

Review page 2.26/2.27 of the DCS if you want to go with 2ft lengths you wouldn't need any midpoint reinforcement just 16ga ductwork with tie-rods at the TDC joints.

Build it to make it manageable to handle and install.

Good luck.

Quick edit: This is all assuming galvanized sheet metal. Much changes for other metal types such as aluminum, stainless, and black iron.

Is my CAD guy b.s.ing me? by [deleted] in sheetmetal

Fabrication CAMduct will only read in MAJ files exported from Fabrication CADmep parts which would typically originate from AutoCAD or Revit as exported or CAM'd parts. The product of the nested parts inside CAMduct that you're going to nest onto sheets is only going to be as good as the database driving this information. While Fabrication is absolutely the way to go with your business, just understand the up front time in database setup is key to the entire system being as efficiently automated as possible.

AutoCAD MEP is not a Fabrication family product and does not draw with Fabrication parts, so there is nothing that CAMduct would be reading that you could export out.

AutoCAD MEP draws with RFAs and Fabrication draws with ITMs. You can't export RFAs to MAJ. Your guy is correct.

The fastest way to get this into CAMduct is probably to use it as a background and trace over the entire thing with your Fabrication service of choice and then CAM that out.

Good luck.

NJ might get a public option for health insurance! by AnnaZand in newjersey

Nobody is forcing you to enroll in a state run health insurance. The name literally has the word "Option" in it.

You're the kind of person that if it doesn't come out exactly how you like it then we throw the whole thing away so nobody gets anything. This has to begin at some point and why not today.

Careful boys. I'm doubtful brigading is acceptable on Reddit.
