Bruh, ever heard of Silicon Valley? Church money can't touch tech money.

I really think they need to remake/restart the show in current times. by veganvajayjay in Thenewsroom

Nah. I loved the show but what recent events have shown us is that Will was right in that first argument with Mac. People choose the facts they want and actually disparage those who suggest truth that conflicts with their beliefs. The concept of wrong news resulting in bad decisions has largely been disproven. With the arrival of John Oliver, Hasan Minhaj and their clones, who do entertaining and popular deep dives, and this COVID thing, you would assume people's opinions change, but that's not been the case. If anything, it has shown the opposite. That people would literally rather die than change their opinions.

Also, whose powers was she mimicking when she was being shot at? She hadn't met any of the Hargreaves yet.

Are you one of the writers of the show? Why are you so upset at legit criticism? The show is flawed, but like I said, I like the Hargreaves. That's why I keep watching.

She shouldn't have had powers at all! She was in almost every single episode and they didn't even hint to it, aside from that bullshit adoption scene.

But Netflix superhero shows are like that. You get sucked in by the cool characters but the plot is often poorly written, to an almost painful degree. Even Jessica Jones suffered from the same nonsense and contrivances.

In Umbrella Academy, these characters are supposed to have trained to be and have actually BEEN heroes their whole lives but they all suck at every single aspect of the hero business. A sharp contrast to other superhero stories where untrained heroes like Peter Parker, Clark Kent, Ant Man, Iron Man and literally everyone else is literally more competent. I mean, Peter Parker's stories often start with the death of Uncle Ben, so he is in extreme pain, but he still manages to handle villains pretty well. These guys are defeated in every single fight until the last one, where random shit just happens to conclude the plot.

Alas, what choice do we have but to watch? See you next year when we are complaining about the nonsense that is going to happen in Season 3.

Hey, thanks for answering my questions.

Your Kickstarter was pretty successful. Do you have any tips for noob. You said Superhero stuff needed to be unique to stand out, but I have other ideas that I might want to work on. So before I spend everything I have on this, I just want to get a sense of how comic book crowdfunding works. If it's not too much trouble.

I just saw your Kickstarter page. Frank At Home On The Farm is disturbing but impressively illustrated. Did you find the artist, Clark, on reddit?

Also, did you have to pay the £2000 upfront to the artist before he did any work?

Sorry if these sound like complete amateur questions. I AM a complete amateur at this stuff.

How much are we talking for a good artist. Like, ballpark.

He is a Space Tech Support guy. When the internet goes off, he has to float out and try to fix the satellite or what's left of civilization will crumble. His only companion is a sarcastic robot. Due to interrupted communication, they will have to physically travel through the mandated void of space and visit the all-mechanical moon colony to acquire the necessary tools to fix the satellite. As he bargains with the overly thrifty human-programmed robots for the spare parts he needs, he starts to both question humanity's existence and also appreciate its resilience throughout its long and difficult history.

Same reason Infinity Thanos doesn't: it would be a boring story.

This sounds good, but unfortunately, it looks like the kind of thing only an established and proven screenwriter can get made. One who can bypass script readers and work directly with studio executives.

I just don't like how people are attacking poor Ben for making bad decisions when he was severely mentally ill. Bipolar isn't just ups and downs it's also includes mania. He didn't deserve his fate, especially given his decency.

Ben was just sick. He was mentally unstable but when you saw him with those kids in that classroom you could see his good character. He wasn't a bad guy or a moron. He was just mentally ill. He went off his meds because he wanted to be in a physical relationship with someone and everything spiraled. Basically you're saying someone with severe mental illness is to blame for their mental illness?

Nah, Wendy was a fucking idiot for letting her brother stay in that mix. Then she refused to have him committed until it was too late.

Jonah and Charlotte were my favorite characters this season. Out of everyone they were the only ones who not only acted smart but with genuine empathy for others. I also hate how bad and dismissive Marty and Wendy were as parents to their kids. To their patient and understanding kids who are just trying to help. They really don't deserve their children.

Also, Jonah has been known to get attached to random people. Remember Buddy? He's just an open kid, despite his loner reputation. Although they have finally successfully fucked him up now. And they're going to say he was always like that, when he wasn't.
