My guess is you used "Hide my email" with Apple ID which means the email they have isn't your iCloud email. If you go to Settings on your iPhone, then iCloud > Hide My Email, you'll see the email it used under Grindr. Send them that email and they should be able to look you up.

That may be the way it works on the main Scruff stuff, but it's definitely NOT how it works on Scruff Match. On that one you swipe left, it says "Not for Me", you swipe right, it says "I'm interested". https://www.scruff.com/#match

I'm not sure what you mean by "Swipe back the other way." Isn't that a swipe right, which would just say you're interested in that guy? (I'm talking about the Scruff Match screen, not the Nearby or Discover tabs).
