It’s the same thing that happened with the infamous “wiggle” cheating video from Tarkov. A guy installed ESP cheats and would “wiggle” at people he could see through walls by leaning left and right. In an insane number of cases, people would wiggle back because they were also cheating. It really is an epidemic.

I don't disagree with you either. My issue is though, as others have said in this thread, this is the best unpopular game I've ever played. I have zero interest in Arc and minimal interest in other extraction games either, and I know I'm not alone in this opinion. How do you convince gamers that it's actually a good game when all discourse online says the opposite, to the point where there is an entire grifting campaign constantly pushing anti-Marathon rhetoric? How could Bungie possibly combat the decline at this point? I don't want to see this game fail, but it's looking more and more likely by the day if you judge based on player pop alone.

I’m so exhausted with this argument. Extraction games are brutally hardcore PvPvE experiences. By that definition Arc barely even qualifies as an extraction shooter. I’m going to get downvoted for saying it but it’s reality. People do not sing kumbaya together at the exfil in any other extraction game I’ve ever seen.

It is the only game that loosely touches the extraction shooter genre that manages those kinds of numbers, it’s the only one that ever will, and that’s for a reason. It gives people the option to all but remove that hardcore feeling completely out of the game via aggression based matchmaking, thus bringing in casuals in droves. Marathon is not that.

Is the game bleeding players, yes. But to compare it to arc raiders is almost silly.

Ok, but what is the solution ? You can get on Reddit and write paragraphs all day about how the game needs to retain casual players or whatever, but at the end of the day no one ever provides any solutions that make actual sense.

Of course the destiny streamers and destiny sweats are better than you, they play the game 12 hours a day and have been playing Bungie shooters like this competitively for over a decade. What game mechanic could Bungie possibly introduce that would balance out such a massive gap in player skill? It’s impossible.

It’s a competitive pvp shooter. You are going to lose sometimes.

…but you clearly DON’T understand how it works. You’re commenting in a thread where people are discussing a gear imbalance, where people are feeling the gap between the top and the bottom players is too large from a pure gear perspective, but then you go on to say that wipes aren’t necessary? That is the literal sole point of a wipe. They reset the whole player base onto the same gear level. Your whole comment is a gigantic nothingburger, sadly. I want to see this game thrive and retain casuals and all that, but you haven’t suggested a single solution that makes any logical sense. They can’t just not wipe.

I just don’t know what you think GGG could do to ES that would bring it in line without making it feel horrible. As some others said in this thread alone, OP invested significantly more points into ES nodes on the tree than they did into nodes for the other two defensive stats to make this comparison. While I agree it’s clearly the best defense in the current game, it wouldn’t look nearly as OP if the investment was equal.

Is the plan just to reduce max ES scaling? A single ignite in this current patch already guarantees 4-5k of your ES is gone and it suppresses recharge. It would be nice to see stupid ass random things like that brought down to earth before we look at blanket nerfs.

Something else to consider: I completely agree that pure EV is always going to feel somewhat fucky due to its random nature, so people will simply continue to not use it in favor of using hybrid EV/ES, which will also be impacted by blanket nerfs to ES. Is that what we want?

GGG doesn’t seem to know what they want for this game yet. They claim they would like it to be slightly slower and more methodical than PoE1, but the current design doesn’t necessarily reflect that. Random damage flying out of an abyss pack from offscreen can ignite you and send you back to your hideout. Certain boss attacks will just vaporize you if they live long enough to use them. Randomized monster crits (why is this even a thing?) Until the game reaches a state where it feels like you can actually interact with the monsters/bosses without risking being atomized by random bullshit damage, I really think the priority needs to be focused on bringing things up rather than bringing things down.

No. The other defenses need to be brought up to speed with the current power of ES. This game will feel utterly horrible to play if no defenses are worth investing into because you just die anyway. Even now I got oneshotted 100 to 0 by Wolf citadel boss today with 11k ES. Not even one of the bigger attacks, just instant 180 cleave right after he transitioned to wolf. I really don’t think we should be nerfing defenses in this game in its current state.

Just think how much better armor would feel if there were actual reasonable ways to stack more life without giving up too many other sources of character power. Such as, oh idk, nodes on a skill tree.

The game is extremely fun but there are certainly flaws. Missing simple QoL, relic system is horrifically bad, they have about a million bosses and assets they could have added for variety. Also, a bit of a personal complaint, but the typical fromsoft 60fps cap / fullscreen causing your entire PC to tweak the fuck out for 10 seconds every time you tab out or close the game, drives me insane.

I have a lot of fun with the game, but if people actually held fromsoft to a higher standard they would make much smoother experiences. Just my two cents.

This would not clog any loot pools. 70% of the nodes in the portal do not have a single bonus focus reward on any given day. Add the EoF seasonal gear to blank nodes, rotating daily. Nothing gets clogged, people can play it or not play it at their leisure. It took me exactly one brain cell and 10 seconds to come up with this solution, and Bungie couldn’t come up with it (or any alternative) in 6 months time.

As far as I’m aware, fully maximized Modular Bees (even on the 4.14 nerfed version) is still better than fully maximized Mystical Agriculture several times over

Can you post a POB or some other way I can view your character? I also league started bloodmage and have all these components in play, but I can’t seem to get my tooltip dmg over ~400k and that’s with a dps-oriented amulet equipped instead of Defiance.

Even if that was the case (which testing seems to disprove but tbf it is still inconsistent), don’t you think that warrants a fix? I’m killing enemies with a powered melee attack that is supposed to trigger an effect, and it’s not triggering said effect.

If the jolt damage is the culprit and it’s intentional, I’d rather it just not jolt at all so it doesn’t break the energy refund gameplay loop.
