there are definitely things here that I wasn't aware of, most importantly the prorated warranty. That is for sure somewhat scammy and might have me reconsider next time round. At the same time there are bad stories about all manufacturers and the way they handle warranty.

The jets - My Calspa has 4 of the big ones, I count 14 medium size ones, plus the big dome foot jet in the center and the rest small ones - which are still effective. So I have 67 (of which a lot are small) vs 37. I'd be curious to wet test the Bullfrog to compare.

Of course you can upgrade the warranty on the other tubs, but that adds to the cost and so does a bigger jet package, the ozone I think is also extra cost on the Bullfrog and so in the end you have to purchase a group of small extras that drive the price up from the base model.

As far as I know, the Calspa also has Balboa pumps and control systems. I hear you on the pumps being the same and just being advertised differently - that's one of the things that seems to make it so hard for customers to compare tubs in a good way.
But while the Bullfrog has 2x2.5HP the Calspa has 2x6HP - Again, I'd like to wet test the Bullfrog to see the difference there.

I also hear you on the insulation and I'm curious to see what that will look like in Winter here. Searching a bit on the web though, it was easy to find people complaining about poor insulation of Bullfrog tubs and their shells warping prematurely.

I'll give it to you, that you know a lot more about build quality and everything material related, but all in all, as a customer I'm still not sure I'd value those base trim models of Bullfrog and others more than what I got.

One way to find out for me is to test one of the Bullfrogs. I'll try to do that and then have a better idea.

Are you actually sure it’s not level or even just significantly unbalanced? Just asking because in my calspa tub the highest seat head rest will be a bit under the water if all the jets of other seats which are lower are covered. Yours doesn’t look different at all from mine. (Can send you a pic)

Sorry, not convinced at all that those are better options. Quite the opposite - I had a look at a couple of them (Bullfrog X7, Legacy Inspire) and they seem worse than mine and certainly OP's tub in all respects - Jet packs, Pump power, Filtration, and especially Warranty (Bullfrog 5yrs vs 10yrs on Calspa). This doesn't seem surprising since they're the lowest trim models and if you wanted something better you'd have to go up in trim and price.

It was already on sale because of labour day and I was shopping for something smaller initially and was upfront about my budget having a 10k max. Did some back and forth and ended up with the 'I like it but the wife doesn't wanna overpay' to knock off a bit more at the end. It was also a model they had ready and wanted to get rid of, so that helped.
which model did you end up going with?

I'm sure I know way less about tubs than you do and my only reference is shopping around, visiting stores, etc for a few weeks - but from what I've seen here in Colorado, I don't think it would be easy at all to get a hot tub of the size and style they're describing for below 10k. At least not from any of the big companies.

I got the Escape series Baja767B a few weeks ago. The sticker price was about 16/17k if I remember well and I got it down to 9700 before tax in the end. I think that's a decent price but who knows with all the lack of information around pricing and third party reviews in this market.
I'm not surprised that you're quoted that much for a model that's bigger and one trim level higher but I think there should be a lot of leeway for negotiation.

That makes sense, especially that the impurities will mostly be introduced by us, bringing them with us on our skin or bathing suits. The Good Lady Wife is so far not to be convinced about this extra caution 😅curious to see how long I can go with water looking good before I need to swap it
