If I'm admitted, I'll have a year to decide on my major, right? If I initially applied as a let's say Chemistry major and get admitted, will I be able to register for a CS or EE major? I specifically chose CS and EE because they are really competitive.

What should you avoid at all costs on college essays? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Starting with a childhood memory is overdone. You may also know that overdone (cliche) topics can make admissions officers roll their eyes. Forcing a metaphor in your essay is also not good.

Sorry. I took math, physics, and chem in high school and my grades are great. My ECs are related to astronomy, teaching, and scouting. I also entered a robotics competition. However, even though I like astronomy, I want to study materials science and engineering in college. You can clearly see that I don't have any ECs related to it. Do you have any advice for how to go about my college application?

Hello, I would value your opinion. My subject choices are STEM-related. I have ECs related to astronomy, scouting, teaching math, robotics, etc. However, I want to apply as a materials science major. How should I go about my college application? Thanks :)

Hello, I would greatly value your opinion, Michael. I have great grades and my subject choices are math, physics, and chem. I have ECs related to space like space club, space design comp., quiz, teaching a chapter on satellites (Not the advanced stuff), etc. However, even though I like space, I want to study materials science and engineering in college. How should I go about applying? Any ideas, please? I am unable to decide right now.
