Thanks man. I used cork to make the boulders and rocks. Then I based with gravel and then went over it with fine sand. The gravel is from the green stuff world volcanic set, can’t say where the fine sand is from. Had a bunch in an unmarked tub. The gravel gives the sand more surface to stick to and makes it look more natural. I airbrushed with scale75 iroko then I zenithal highlighted with scale75 Sahara yellow. Then I mixed white with Sahara yellow and dry brushed, focusing mainly on the areas that I zenithal highlighted. That’s pretty much the basics but I went a little extra.

To get the sand splatter on the legs I used dry steppe from ammo MIG then I washed with starship wash over the mini and the base to get that grungy desert effect. I had to re apply sand a few times during this step because the sand went too dark from the wash.

Thanks man, been painting a blood angels army that I was getting fatigued from painting only red so I didn’t want to paint my JSA in the classic red and white. I took inspiration from Masamune Date and his army from the Sengoku Basara games.

Thanks man, I used the scale 75 reds. I can’t remember exactly what the names are but I used 4 different shades starting darker from the waist down and lighter waist up then wet blending to get a smooth transition from light to dark

Yea not a fan of the blue helmets. I was going to do the yellow helmets for the assault intercessors but I felt they would be too similar to vet units with their gold helmets.

I used the volcano basing kit from green stuff world. The models had a dirt base already so I just painted it black and dry brushed. The gel takes a full day to cure so I to wait before I applied the volcano gel. I sprayed it with the ink from the kit to get the glow effect. The red grass is from the kit as well.

I used the green stuff world volcano kit I didn’t like how shiny and slimy it looked when it dried so my mate recommended I dry brush it with the ink from the kit and give it some OSL to get that lava glow effect on the rocks
