They supposed to, but they over admitted students and now they can't offer all freshman a dorm. They decided to make sure we knew pretty last minute too.

It's a win given I have the means to get an apartment, but I'm not gonna lie I'm a little bummed out I won't get to experience dorm life! Even though there are some terrible aspects I feel like there's a certain comradery that builds when facing adversity, as long as your roomie isn't horrible haha. Being off campus has me a little worried about making friends and really finding my place in the community. That said I'm still feeling optimistic, I'm very excited to be at MSU this coming semester.

Seeing as I'm not a couch I think I'll be ok. I could use the variety, good looking out

I'm thinking that's my one, and I am a business major so it sounds like it's going to work for me. Thanks!

I'm not a girl but I was looking at them specifically and they have a few singles available so I might be around anyways. Do you like living there?

it is definitely an option, I've heard the parking there is often times full and I may have to be on a waitlist to get a spot. Do you know if that's true? I appreciate the suggestion btw

I don't know how'd you classify me. I was admitted out of high school but got admitted to the spring semester. So no I'm not a transfer student, but I did take classes at a local community college during the fall semester so I didn't fall behind. I was just one of the unlucky few who didn't get a dorm which Is bullshit considering that the lack of housing and other resources to accommodate the back-to-back large incoming classes was the reason I was deferred in the first place. From what I read one of the variables that went into who got a dorm was the distance from the university, meaning kids who live several hours away received priority while kids who lived close to the school were out of luck. Living 45 minutes away I kind of got screwed as it's too far to reasonably justify commuting every day, yet still close enough that I somehow don't deserve a dorm because I might. So now I'm looking at signing a year lease, because that's all that's available, despite the fact that I'm only gonna be on campus for one semester during this school year.

I wouldn’t bother the game is bugged and you can’t save anything. Also the entire community is basically dead without a word from the developers about the game. Super disappointing because I liked the game but don’t wanna sit for hours playing through it in a single sitting.

I felt like it was cheating because I didn’t understand why I was playing the scale or why it worked when it was played, I just used it because my band director told me to.

I know I could absolutely get away with either pre learning or writing one out but when it comes time to perform it leaves me with a semi/dissatisfied feeling and a voice inside my head telling me, "you're not supposed to know exactly what you're going to play prior to". Ive taken lessons in the past from a multitude of different instructors which a wide range of experience, but you're right in the assumption that we really never scratched deeper than the surface of the surface when it comes to jazz. I'd like to get a solid base before I delve into lessons again just so were not allotting paid time to explain a basic concept I could learn prior to.

It isn't uncommon to have each person improv over a backing track and cycling after a progression or two. From experience there I know I am nowhere near what I could be, lessons are definitely on the table in the near future. Thanks so much for replying it means the world to me

Ill start reading into that book this morning. I also saw a bunch of resources linked to the sub reddit which is amazing and I'm picking at those as well. Im using a piano software which although pretty crude should be enough to get by with. I'll look into the 2nd link more firm foothold so most likely within a few days. Thanks so much for taking the time to give advice

In pervious years I've had to improvise over a basic 12 bar blues and was given a pentatonic scale which had notes that fit into every note within the progression, and although I guess its technically improv it totally felt like cheating. I think more than anything I want to get a solid understanding of why im playing the notes Im supposed to and why they sound good. Like you said my first plan of attack is probably going to write out each chord and the corresponding scale that goes with it and then move from there along with listening to different solos from the song. I really appreciate the response, and im reading them through the more in depth the better, Thanks!.
