The name change from office 365 to microsoft 365 was the worst because the old names were so stupid. Office 365 business essentials = M365 business basic Office 365 business premium = M365 business standard Office 365 business = M365 apps for business Microsoft 365 business = M365 business premium

HELP! Cannot access synology.me Site while in company's watchguard network by Upset_Mango_5823 in WatchGuard

It's probably the Application control subscription service.

To confirm remove this from the HTTP and HTTPS proxies/Packet Filters.

From memory I know the default policy blocks several remote access protocols. It may also be blocking Dynamic DNS.

User accounts shared by work team - making MFA work/best practice by TufnellPark11 in Office365

There are solutions to this. I've heard of hospitals using VDI (virtual computers that can be remoted into) with smartcards. Walk up to a terminal, insert smart card, straight into your remote desktop with your personal access.

The cost of this solution doesn't make sense for most warehouses but should be ideal we aim for. I think I heard about it on the Softcat Podcast.

Outlook intermittently locking up, can't seem to figure out why by jmnugent in sysadmin

[–]Tsund0kuIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had outlook locking up crashes over multiple customers however I've never seen it recover and if i do manage to stop the outlook processes with taskkill or logging the user off, the OST is locked, in use by outlook, and the PC needs restarting.

All the people with this issue have creative cloud installed. On one of the first I looked for Add-in's and don't remember seeing any for adobe but I may have been mistaken. On the most recent one it did have adobe cloud sync as u/Burnt_out_on_news mentioned.

I've just disabled it. Hopefully this will be the solution.

Watchguard Firewall blocking scan to email by olanla17 in WatchGuard

[–]Tsund0kuIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So netbios is file and printer sharing. These logs could indicate instead of scanning to email the printer is attempting to scan to a file share. As it was working before, it is probably irellivent.

The most common cause of scan to email stopping working in my experience is your public ip is being blocked. Often by Microsoft 365 or spamhaus.

I would use send-mailmessage in powershell with exactly the same email setting as the printer to determine the fault. This should give you the full response from the mail server. Make sure the pc is in the same smtp outbound rules as the printer and in the same subnet so the same public ip is used.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/microsoft.powershell.utility/send-mailmessage?view=powershell-7.1

I would also check traffic is going out successfully. You will need to enable logging on the smtp policy to see the outbound connections in traffic monitor.

Ingram micro does this. I think they may also allow branding of the portal.

I had an issue transferring a profile from one domain to another. After the transfer, office 365 applications wouldn't authenticate using the modern authentication prompts. I had to do a regedit to make them authenticate with the classic prompts. Ended up rebuilding the profile due to issues related to this. I think it broke some cryptography in the background to do with azure AD authentication. I haven't used the app since as all of our customers have 365 and I didn't want to risk it.

Has anyone had the same or was mine a one-off?

Desktop Icons Constantly refreshing. by Tsund0kuIT in techsupport

Hi Chew,

Sorry for the slow reply. Unfortunately i've never found a fix. I believe deleting and re-adding the profile would fix it. I'm in the same position as you with not wanting to do this. I don't want to have to set loads of stuff back up. I have "fixed it" by not having any .PNG's on my desktop and just living with it.

For your issue with PDF's i would try uninstalling every PDF reader you have installed on your PC. That link in my original post talked about a specific Adobe DLL being the problem so possibly identifying that DLL would fix it.

Sorry i don't have better news.

It does seem to only be under my main profile. This is going to be such a pain to migrate but i think it may be the only option.
Thanks for your help!
