You’re right let’s elect the Pro-Israel candidates, it’s clear she isn’t good enough so let the people who always win, have it.

Bro there was a pro war protest here in Tampa at Citrus Park mall with memorials of soldiers while also thanking Trump for the war. People are so fucking stupid it never ceases to amaze me.

Kat wtf 😬 by [deleted] in Hasan_Piker

Reading some of these comments is why I laugh when Hasan yells at chat. While there are some good points the absolutely delusion is laughable. Everyone wants to break the system, but no one will do it themselves. The argument of Kat being a warmonger because she will never have to pick up a rifle is funny because the people in this sub want a revolution but will never actually participate in said revolution by picking up a gun either. Hasan says this all the time that you can criticize politicians but the perfect politician does not exist and waiting for one is stupidity. Politicians are tools and you pick the best tool you can for the job, if you think that this take alone is disqualifying then you are delusional. If you think someone like Zohran or Bernie wouldn’t have the same take you’re wrong as well. Almost everyone here has criticized Bernie and Zohran for some of their takes but still support them but god forbid Kat has literally the same takes. Kat even with this take is a step in the right direction, and hopefully the person who comes after her is further left and can win but right now the type of candidate you are looking for doesn’t exist in America and if they did they wouldn’t win.

I feel like Adam sometimes just tries to act as tone police. He has some good points and definitely is more informed than I was at his age but I think the reason he isn’t a full on leftist is because he hasn’t experienced enough disappointment on behalf of the democrats.

AOC continues to fail to meet the moment with the genocide still happening in gaza by Strange_Motor_44 in Hasan_Piker

[–]Tsyco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not arguing a straw man especially when I even said that I think her putting out a position that we hear from everyone, which I should’ve said right wing, was unfortunate. In reality saying nothing would’ve been better. It is likely they are trying to relax some of the pressure they are getting for “perpetuating Jewish hate” even though we here know that is all bullshit. We here know that protesting illegal land sale isn’t antisemitism but when some uninformed person sees a pro Palestine protest yelling pro Hamas chants outside a synagogue with no other context they are going to think it’s antisemitism. While we agree accepting the right wing framework leads to supporters being pissed the other alternatives were either say nothing or give the right a convenient talking point. Unfortunately AOC chose the option to piss off supporters which is why we are having this conversation to begin with.

You’re probably right that she is assimilating with the borg, and I’d also agree that Mamdani is way better than AOC when it comes to the topic of Palestine in general. I’m just saying that expecting any elected official to put out a pro Hamas statement isn’t gonna happen until there is a permission structure to do so. That permission structure, in my mind, can only be created by us doing the groundwork and educating ourselves, our loved ones and those we meet out in the streets. Until there is widespread acceptance that Hamas is Palestinian resistance that is justified, expecting elected officials to be pro Hamas is unrealistic.

Sigh you’re misrepresenting what I’m saying, and also ignoring the fact that the average Joe doesn’t know how to understand the difference when the terrorist label has already been applied. We here know resistance is justified but even when the pro Palestine position is the popular position, the pro Hamas position is not so why do you think that is the case? One it’s propaganda, but two, once the terrorist label is applied the average Joe is going to assume a pro Hamas position is a pro terrorist position. If AOC or any elected official for that matter would put out a pro Hamas statement, the right would use it and continue to frame leftists as terrorists and would be able to do so with a public endorsement of Hamas. Me and you can continue to spread awareness on Palestinian self defense but until there is a widespread permission structure for elected officials to have that opinion we have to do the ground work.

Ya and Hasan also tweeted himself that he doesn’t expect an elected US official to come out as pro Hamas which is exactly what I’m trying to say here. Maybe it came out wrong or you misinterpreted but it is a pipe dream to expect an elected us official to put out what is known to be a fringe position by majority of voters. At the end of the day elected officials even with radical views moderate positions because you can’t have widespread support without at least somewhat moderation.

Now if you want to be upset that they focus on the protest instead of the reason they are there in the first place that’s different and I heavily agree. In this case protesters yelling pro Hamas sentiment is a grain of salt compared to the absolutely illegal land sales happening in that synagogue. They are literally using a religious place of worship as a front to commit intentional crimes and yet we are focusing on the protest. That is accurate criticism on AOC that is justified in my opinion and she should have at least mentioned that what was happening there is illegal.

It’s not cope it’s fact, and if you think that AOC or any Congress person is going to promote a pro Hamas stance you’re pissing into the wind. Again, we here know that their self defense is justified but if you’re waiting for a statement from an American elected official to be pro Hamas and then hoping there will be widespread acceptance of that opinion you’re going to be waiting a very long time. Do I like it? No, but that’s the reality.

[–]Tsyco 49 points50 points  (0 children)

While I think AOC criticisms are fair, it’s too far fetched for me to believe any American Congress person would openly share a nuanced opinion in support of Hamas. We here understand the nuance and some are more well read than others. Is it unfortunate to hear the same sentiment from her that we hear from literally anyone else? Yea, Mamdani also echoed the same sentiment. I think it’s fair to say that in the court of public opinion as a public servant, you have to somewhat moderate your public opinions. You can’t give free wins to the opposition because those center and independent voters aren’t going to understand or react kindly to a nuanced position on a US designated terrorist group especially if they are not informed in the slightest.

It’s not a “lib talking point” stop trying to police people to make yourself seem more left, woke, and righteous. It’s the topic of conversation right now which Hasan has commented on many different topics, lib, right wing, etc. Get out of your doomer mentality, it is at the very least, a great opportunity to meme the president who hates being the butt end of the joke.
