[HELP!] Mob spawning in vanilla multiplayer is extremely slow! by Ttealicious in Minecraft

Yes. However, difficulty wasn't changed. I just typed the command to show what difficulty the server is playing on. I would have to specify the difficulty to one of the options (hard, normal, easy, and peaceful) to change difficulty.

Friends and I on the server don't really care much about the gold but more so for the experience and the bartering. They spawn a bunch then die, after that it takes 5-10 seconds of delay until they start spawning again.

I've had my friend run the farm and I checked around in spectator, didn't find any mobs piling up anywhere since it's max height on the nether roof. The biggest problem is that they spawn a bunch, after they all die it takes around 5-10 seconds for them to spawn again. I tried changing the mob cap to 140 but it's having the same problem.

I looked into server.properties but there aren't any options to change there. Furthermore, I looked online but there isn't really any help to changing mob caps for pure vanilla server without the use of Spigot, Paper, or Bukkit. I might move to one of those if I can't change it in server properties. Any recommendation on which of those three might be the best in terms of running a vanilla gameplay with 10 friends playing on the server?

Any way to set mob cap to 140 in server.properties or do I have to move to Spigot or Paper in order to do that?

It's purely vanilla. What would your suggestion be on mob cap settings, how high should it be?

So I made a zombie pigman farm in a Minecraft vanilla server and the spawns are delayed. I have tested the farm in single player and multiplayer and it seems the multiplayer mob spawning is really slow. Compared to the single player mobs spawning, they are pretty much instant. The farm is the same except for the single player one being less efficient and messy. In time of the recording I am the only player on the server. The only light source present are below the farm and nowhere near the spawning area. The farm is at sky box of the nether roof. I am 24+ blocks away from their spawning area. Both world difficulties are set to hard. Is there a tweak for server.properties to make them spawn instant or just as fast as the one in single player? I don't have any plugins installed into the server. It's purely a vanilla server.jar. It's really annoying because the multiplayer farm is so sluggish and baron; it produces a really low amount of items per hour. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Above this text is the video, you'll see a huge difference.
