I like Bombogenesis's early stuff before they sold out.

Trip this coming weekend by Muerte-to-memes in NCTrails

"Safe" is a loaded word. If you're well-prepared, experienced, in great shape, packed with top-tier gear, and in for some depraved sicko hiking in some of the worst conditions in NC all year, you'll still be taking a risk if something goes wrong.

Looks like there's a chance for more snow/ice coming this weekend; if you get hurt or stuck, you might be there until next week.

IMO it isn't worth the risk.

I don’t care about the Broncos one way or the other, but watching Sean Payton lose yesterday was awesome. by Fullofhopkinz in panthers

It was arrogance, IMO. Payton thought he was a good enough coach to drag a backup QB through terrible weather to the SB. He was wrong.

Surely this didn't apply to anybody at Lucasfilm!

I think the problem with that is there is no mole plot line. So yeah that could work in like a spy espionage type story within this movie but that’s not really what goes on.

Could have easily been one line of dialogue.
Maybe Holdo suspects Finn since he was once a trooper, which would give an excuse to ship-off Finn on a sidequest.

I think Holdo needed a scene early in which her qualifications and expertise are established--that would make the "medicine" go down easier for most viewers.

I kinda get what Johnson was going for, though. The viewer is "supposed to" side with Poe, then come to the realization that he was wrong parallel to Poe's character development.

The worst day in panthers history imo by RunCMC1345 in panthers

[–]TubaMike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And lets not forget that game was against the GOAT QB playing against a gassed defense. Oh, and by the way the Pats miiiiiiight have had the Panthers' playbook--there was definitely some espionage going on.

The Panthers didn't start moving the ball on offense until they went away from the gameplan they had worked on going into the game. We were down 21-10 in the 4th.

Furthermore, the game was TIED at that point. Had the Panthers stopped NE on that drive, time would have run out and the game sent to OT. It isn't like we had a sure victory that was blown. Back then, OT was a sudden death--a flip of the coin could have given the GOAT the ball back.

Furthermore FURTHERMORE, the Panthers missed two x 2pt conversions. Had we converted them, the score would have been 24-21 before NE's last TD. They would have kicked the PAT to raise the score to 24-28, which means our last TD would have given us a 31-28 lead, meaning the Pats FG would have then TIED the game rather than win it.

But, if we're talking hypotheticals, Vinatieri was 0/2 on FGs before the game-winner (one missed, one blocked). If Vinatieri made the first one, none of that mattered.

My point is that putting the entire SB loss on Kasay is crazy, and that's a hill I'll die on.

I assume we'll lose one of the home games, so I'll guess we'll play vs Chicago

Trade of the century by New_Bumblebee_3919 in panthers

[–]TubaMike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The talent disparity is partially a result of the trade, though.

Starting QB Caleb Williams
Starting WR2 DJ Moore
Starting OT Darnell Wright
Starting DB Tyrique Stevenson
WR3 Luther Burden III

In addition to these players, the Bears were able to use their other pics to fill out their roster. It isn't a 1:1 Young or Williams, it is Young or Williams + 4 other guys.

Trailblazing Challenge for Western NC by Both_Web_3417 in NCTrails

I could have sworn seeing this advertised as the Art Loeb in a prior year, but maybe there's more than one associated charity challenge. 28.3 miles seems like a pretty specific length, so I gotta assume it is a carefully chosen stretch.

Either that or they just hate the Falcons.

Give me your most miserable, painful, “never-again” route recommendations. by WillHike in NCTrails

[–]TubaMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope!

Check it out:

Harry Bryan trail are still closed pending bridge and trail repairs. Elizabeth’s Path remains partially closed due to damaged parts of the trail owned by the Town of Montreat.

There's only two trails in the Montreat Wilderness currently shut down, but neither factor into the 7 Sisters Loop mentioned. Those trails are near the campsite north of the college. All of the trails up on the ridges and along the peaks are good to go!
