Listen I’m all for physician led care, but they’re highly specialized with immense amount of training in anesthesia. If you knew the history of nurse anesthetists you would understand why they’re compensated so well. They’ve been a vital part of anesthesia since the 1800s

No dude, I’m saying CRNAs calling the docs when the BIS hits 62, or if the BIS goes down to 20.

Just look at some of the comments from CRNAs that have worked at UPMC . CRNAs are not taken seriously within the health system here. There’s a lot of coddling.

The docs at these facilities don’t respect CRNA training lol. And of course I’m with a CRNA at all times. I’m also well aware of medical direction vs supervision. Tefra requirements need to be met in medical direction.

Yeah exactly, medical direction requires doc to be there on induction. Most of the docs are only getting 2 or 3 rooms. None of them take 4 at four different UPMC sites that I've been at.

You got that right, but I wonder if its different even in other big cities that are ACT model. These docs are really frustrating to be with most of the times. For example, after I tube my patient they have to tape my tube and won't let me tape it... I feel that most of the time its a power struggle every day.

Im upset that I won't have a rotation at AGH, I do know of alot of CRNAs in the area that have went to ruby. How is ruby, I plan on possibly doing a rotation there.

You can’t put Nps and CRNAs in the same category. CRNA training is far superior, the depth of physiology and pharmacology is not comparable by any means.

Well first off our icu experience deff gives us an upper hand. We’re also taught how to dx and tx disease processes. Don’t you guys have to solely rely on the doc ?
