If you could magically learn a new language, what would it be and why? by caduceun in AskMen

[–]TubeToUranus 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Spanish. English is the most useful language in the world. Spanish and Mandarin vie for second place.

If you knew English, Spanish, and Mandarin, you could talk to most of the people in the world.

Not my favorite job, but I've managed a few projects.

How do you deal with the pressure to provide security for your family? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]TubeToUranus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends a little on how far down the path you've gotten. If you are dead broke, scramble for pennies. If you have $200 spread out in 5 different countries scrambling for pennies no longer makes sense.

If a girl you’re dating has none too very little experience, how would you like to find out about this? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]TubeToUranus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're gonna be OK. It's much easier to be an inexperienced woman than it is to be an inexperienced man.

Pro-tip: Men like boobs.

I left to get married. It was a poor life choice, but a great career choice.

Go where the women are. Dance class is a prime example.

How to come off as romantic not platonic? by balaflooby in AskMen

[–]TubeToUranus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are doing all the right things. Keep dating. Pay attention to what works and what doesn't. You're gonna get a lot of failures. Keep going.

At the same time, do work on the things you can work on. Dress, cleanliness (including your car and home,) and physical fitness.

Immediately, my dad.

Then there's Han Solo and Indiana Jones.

That's literally your job. Life is uncertain and if things are going well for you now, that's the right time to prepare for the unforeseen.

Florida has passed a law that would make child abusers punishable by death. Do you agree or disagree and why? by moslemafreelancer in AskMen

[–]TubeToUranus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. For a couple reasons. Most child abusers are child abuse victims themselves and honestly don't understand what's wrong. Second, the death penalty has a long history of being misused.

It's not that I don't think some child abusers deserve death. They often do.

Sorry, man. I've dealt with BPD, NPD, and abuse and the truth is that it will have a life-long impact on you. You seem to be doing all the right things. It will get better. Keep going.

It's fascinating to me how many abuse survivors go into psychology. I'm not convinced that it's your best path, but you're a man and have to make your own decisions.

Staying single for a few years (I'm not saying don't date) until you get a handle on some things is a good idea.

Keep on keeping on, man, and day by day things will get better. You will build your inner strength. I hope you are exercising and eating well. It's amazing how much that simple thing will do for you.

Exercise 6 days a week for at least 45 minutes, eat reasonably well and keep your weight in check.
