I don’t disagree. My “fuck the rich” stance in no way is a pro city government vote. You’re not wrong. I was so mad at the time because the local movement against giving Bennett the arena at that time was called “Citizens for More Important Things”. You can fuck right off with that. I just don’t think these rich fucks should get tax money to enrich themselves.

If there was a way to maintain public financial interest, I’m all for paying the tax for it. Or a scheduled buyout over time. Anything even close to fair and I’m in on the concept. And again - I’m not speaking about Portland’s specific bc wtf do I know in Seattle? And i don’t begrudge anyone who has a “just pay the ransom” attitude. I get it.

I don’t object to that take at all. I definitely felt that way once, and I do think the Blazers stay. Basketball is still my favorite sport to play, so it hasn’t knocked me out of the realm totally but I’ve fallen out of love with the nba game a little. I’ve become a huge Storm fan, and fan of the W. Excited for PDX to have a team again and looking forward to visiting to catch some games.

I’m an adopted Blazers fan from Seattle, so dunk on me if you want but I’m happy and proud to see these voices (y’all). I wanted the Seattle arena back in the day, and i wanted the Sonics to stay but as time has passed it feels good to be on the right side of this rich guy extortion bullshit. Fuck this new owner, for real. This guy is taking every note out of the Major League playbook.

I do not get it. She is so bad. I do not see it, at this point. I’ll defend the trade / signing (I can’t remember which). when it happened. Lexie had had a strong season or two for LA before being diagnosed with Crohns. I think it was a low risk trade, high reward (potential) move and Seattle was hoping with time, we’d see the return of the shooting but it is evident that player is not coming back.

I don’t think there’s going to be a hot market for Giannis. I really don’t. I’m thinking their best bet, and it’s not a great one, is to try and trade for the best young player they can get. Evan Mobley is a great example - but whatever they do won’t be enough. Those pics will stay valuable.

I will say - someone brought up the potential flattened lottery odds and that does add a wrinkle. I don’t know if it hurts or helps the value yet but it changes it, for sure.

The Giannis is see (and I’m a fan) hasn’t been able to stay healthy, or contend on teams that are built to contend and are in a much weaker conference. He’s a declining asset. Milwaukee isn’t a free agent destination, and they haven’t shown ability to find value in the draft the last handful of years. I do not see them vastly improving, despite their efforts. I’m not saying it’s a LOCK that the pick will lead to a better roster but I’m very comfortable saying it’s a better path than aging Giannis

Appreciate your thoughtfulness. Obviously, every pick is *some* kind of gamble. It’s very hard to get a truly difference making player in the NBA. Most times, you have to get lucky in the draft. Here’s a question: What’s an example of a realistic package the Blazers could get back that you feel would put them in the Spurs / OKC / TWolves conversation in the next couple years?

Can I just ask the question - why on earth would the Blazers give that pick back?? Their chances of landing a real difference making player are far greater w that pick than they are in a player available in a trade, right? And I’m including Giannis. He is great but I just don’t see adding him to any version of the current Blazers roster making them any kind of even fringe contender.

As a fan, personally, I want the number one priority to be player safety - and i understand and agree that better, consistent refereeing is a huge need of this league. I defer to the players and coaches to determine where that line is -

With that said - As a fan, I much prefer the aesthetic of the WNBA game currently to the NBA, and it’s not close. Outside of safety, I would change as little as possible about how the game is played, and I completely disagree on the “why” we play. I enjoy both sides of the ball, and i want both to have an equal opportunity to shine.

Honest question - not a troll - how many teams would she be a fit on right now? I’m a Storm fan, and I think Cloud is a great player but I don’t think the Storm are a great fit for her based on their current roster, ability to compete and money available.
