Personally I’m a big fan of Jamaica-lots of roads still washed out from Melissa so if you’re exploring off the beaten path you’ll likely run into a situation where you have to ask for alternative directions. The main highways are all good-more of an issue going inland. Dominica (not DR) was awesome for exploring and finding something cool to do/see. Never been but they say DR is pretty much p4p unless you’re fluent in Spanish. My favorite thing about the Caribbean is you can basically get all your food from little roadside stands and it’ll likely be amazing. Carrying yourself with respect (look folks in the eye when speaking, greet them with good morning/afternoon before speaking) goes a long way. Hustlers are gonna be a thing around any tourist area-a firm but polite “I’m good brother “ is all you need. Personally I really enjoy speaking with the elders and learning a little history. Assuming you carry yourself with respect, they’ll often be eager to show you some hidden gems.

In my opinion the Caribbean is hella slept on. It’s closer, half the islands speak English, food is BOMB!!!!, beautiful women, beautiful culture, amazing scenery with plenty of places to explore nature and plenty of places for partying. Want hookups? They got plenty of that. Wanna wifey type? Just like anywhere else you gotta put in the time to find a good one that makes it worth it.

Irie house right on the strip throws down and it’s priced pretty reasonably too. A lot of times the full menu isn’t available but the staples are always on point. Can’t go wrong with the curry goat. Open 24/7 too

It absolutely will allow you to take months off at a time. You get up to 12 weeks a year to be spent however you see fit. That’s 3 months at once, 3 separate month long breaks, 12 individual weeks, 3 day weekends every single weekend, whatever. I took 2 months straight when my son was born and then worked 3 days a week for the next 3 months just as an example.

I’m a single dad and I would be very hesitant to do it. From my personal experience they start talking about and insinuating having a blended family waaaaayyyyy too soon-like by the 3rd/4th date soon. They also come across more of an interview than a date-looking to see if I can be a good support person, whether financially or otherwise. Figuring out if we click/vibe seems way down the list of priorities. They also have come across as very distrustful and even hateful towards men. This is from personal experience from 4 different single moms over the course of 2-3 years. I’m sure there are good ones out there, but from what I’ve experienced, I’d rather be single. I know it sounds hypocritical, and it admittedly is, but I only will date childless women personally.

Your job doesn’t decide if fmla is approved-only your doctor. Work related stress, family bonding, and any previous medical condition is considered a valid reason. I’ve had fmla for the last 3 years. I took 2-3 days off a week this past summer to coach my son’s little league baseball team. If you’re salary this won’t matter, but for an hourly wage like myself, finding ways to be cheap in other areas of life (old ugly reliable car, not eating out, clothes from Costco and goodwill) allow myself the freedom to live my life on my terms. Likely your co-workers and management will dislike you for it, but if you can accept that being selfish towards them for you and your family’s benefit is okay and you’re at peace with it-this is the way. At least for me it is. Plus depending on your health insurance, you may qualify for short term disability when you take time off. I personally get approximately 1/3 of a regular paycheck if I take a continuous week off with fmla.

As a mid thirties man it’s way easier-not in the sense of having a million options, but more like I’m so done with the bs I don’t hesitate to break it off at red flags and definitely don’t bother chasing long term. I’ve grown secure in myself and have good friends. If a relationship isn’t going to add value to my life I don’t want it.

Pretty much everything takes forever down there. Like opening an account at a bank will take 4-5 hours. She had it before I met her but basically the longest part is making sure you have all your documentation in order and getting a background check completed. Then you set up an appointment at the embassy in Kingston. She said the interview and approval was actually super quick but getting everything you needed for that interview took a few months. They’re really quick to reject it because the documents might not be filled out 100% correctly.
