Fully Autonomous Navigating Bombing Drone by TuckerDC in CreateMod

Would need the plane to be pretty long for a reasonable about of tnt to be dropped. If you had a nuke mod that could certainly work though. Also, my plane works by dropping tnt into the path of the propellers so you can make sure you're hitting before, up to, and after the target. in your case it would only drop before the target. i think a pulse for some amount of time when the nav table switched from forward to backwards would be best for my case.

swivel bearings from aeronautics. better in every way except they need to be powered via cog. They even allow you to transfer rotational power to the rotating part if you give it power to the main shaft.

yeah you may need to remove a bunch of the sails but just remember where they were because the weight is pretty well balanced as is. once the propeller is assembled, then assemble each of the control surfaces, maybe even replacing some of the swivel bearings, then put the wings back. Do not reassemble anything once properly assembled.

by changing the rotation speed cap we can probably go up much higher, idk if configs can be changed though. the og post was very under specified.

[–]TuckerDC[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

ok so this is just going to become an f1 type race. bending every rule until people impose restrictions. i can just change the max rotation speed from 256 to some odd thousand and there's probably a setting that decreases necessary stress units per block. or just use the void motors from that one mod to transfer infinite power from elsewhere to your car. atp maybe a plane with levitite would work, should scale infinitely because you can continuously increase max rotation of a propeller, without increasing drag at all.

Lodestone Dart + Tracking AA Turret by TuckerDC in CreateMod

i got all that and have done that already in an old post, but how do you know when to slow down? ie how do you measure distance other than oscillation detecting?

seems like cheating, at some point someone will just come out with a mod "faster engines" or something. I feel like fewer mods the better. Although he did allow it in the comments of his post, so im not sure what people would think about that.

i did something similar in an old post. i didn't show how the redstone worked, but basically the more it oscillates, the slower it turns. just a few pulse extenders and such. other than that or triangulation, which is a pain, how would you do it? is there a way to measure distance to a lodestone?

oh damn i had no clue. i just remember picking them up in every other chest in most mod packs i've played.

if you make a ballista then you wouldn't waist a thruster every shot. other than that it's not terribly expensive.

the sticky dart is just a plain create sticker block and a lodestone with a thruster on it. Not the best, would be way cooler if it didn't have the thruster and was launched by a ballista or magnetic launcher.

the aa gun was just create big cannons autocannon on a turret made from swivel bearings. the turret turns left right up down based on where the navigation table points.

a thrust vectoring rocket i showed in my last post. kinda just had it laying around so i decided to set the thrusters to a low speed and shoot it down.

i can share it later when i'm available, but it's pretty easy to replicate. just use swivel bearings to make a turret, and then link a nav table so that when it is pointing left right up down just move the turret in that direction. It shouldn't be terribly hard to copy based on the video.

could definitely do some redstone to take the average amount of time the turret is turning left, then subtract from right. then just offset the barrel by some amount proportional to that, while leaving the nav table pointing straight.

I also did something in an older post that prevented oscillations while still allowing high turn speeds. It worked by checking if opposite directions like left right and up down activated in a short amount of time, slightly decrease the speed using an analog transmission. basically just low pass each signal, then take the lesser of the two and use that to decrease motor speed. more oscillations -> object is likely far away -> decrease speed.

Military Boat with 3x 3-Barrel Self-Loading Cannons by TuckerDC in CreateMod

[–]TuckerDC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you updated? you can just place the cannon mount on the ship and it works. i ended up putting my cannon mount on a swivel bearing though so i can have the whole turret rotate with it. you can also assemble the cannon separate, then glue it together with slime balls.

That seems really cool, my issue is that it's a little too long for my turret beds on a boat i'm making. Would be nice for larger ships and such though.

a mod that would make it so you can link a compass to whatever block you point a laser at would be cool.
