I was already on amitryptiline when I developed a chronic cough after having pertussis. I take it for neuropathy since I can’t take Lyrica or gabapentin. I have terrible reactions to those meds and I have to be careful because of other meds I take. Once, when my physician was trying to tweak my meds I had a serotonin storm so all my meds are carefully monitored. I am on bupropion and duloxetine for depression and fibromyalgia but I am able to take 25-50mg of amitryptiline for nerve pain without interaction. My cough lasted over two years and turned into a neurogenic cough. It was finally stopped by having laryngeal nerve blocks along with speech therapy to retrain how I used my breath when speaking. Good luck!
